About the Role:

We're seeking a driven Assistant Controller to join our growing finance team! In this role, your contributions will prove instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation and integrity of our financial processes. As part of our nimble team of three, you'll report directly to our recently promoted VP of Finance & Accounting and work closely with our Staff Accountant.

Responsibilities:

• Play a leadership role in providing technical accounting expertise to the organization.
• Responsibilities will include maintaining all supporting balance sheet schedules, entering and adjusting journal entries, as well as managing the staff accountant.
• Oversee the monthly close process to ensure timely and accurate GAAP compliant financials. 
• Responsible for timely execution of recurring functions with fixed deadlines, e.g. semi-monthly payroll, weekly disbursement cycles, yearly audits, tax filings.
• Lead and manage the treasury function including customer collections, preparation of payments, and reconciliation of cash balances.
• Develop and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
• Oversight of internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Assist with the creation of the company annual operating budget in collaboration with the VP, Finance and Accounting.
• Drive continuous improvements to the timeliness and accuracy of the company’s processes and procedures.
• Acting as the primary liaison for the company’s annual audit.
• Work with external tax advisors to oversee the company’s federal, state, and international tax obligations.
• Participate in future ERP upgrade/implementation initiatives.
• Coordinate distinctive cross-functional projects and perform ad hoc financial analysis as assigned by the VP of Finance & Accounting.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
• Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements.
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a distributed team.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA designation.
• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience in a high-growth company environment.
• Experience in sports, entertainment, or media industry.
