Job Title: Development Director

Department: Administration

Supervisor: President/CEO

Position Status: Exempt

Supervises: Marketing/Development Intern, Volunteers

OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB:

As a member of the Leadership Team, the Development Director coordinates the implementation of strategies intended to maximize fundraising efforts and program development. Specifically, this position works with the Board of Directors, the President/CEO and Senior Staff to achieve maximum income from annual giving, government grants, foundation grants, corporate and individual gifts, endowment bequests and gifts and capital funds, in order to ensure sufficient financial resources to achieve the organization’s goals and objectives. Under direction of the President/CEO, the Development Director coordinates the execution of WovenLife marketing and communication strategies internally and externally.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Serve as active leader on the management team.

· Participate with President/CEO, management staff, and Board of Directors to define the organization’s mission and direction

· Provides vital input in short- and long-term strategic and operational planning and positioning within the organization.

· Maintain confidentiality of sensitive agency information and integrity of information related to WovenLife programs and clients served.

2. Responsible for fundraising activities

· Coordinate and implement annual and long-range financial development of WovenLife supporting the overall strategic plan.

· Research, cultivate and solicit prospective donors and corporate contacts under guidance of, and in conjunction with, the Board of Directors and President/CEO. Facilitate a minimum of 52 (one per week) face-to-face donor visits within the FY.

· Develop and execute strategies for major gift prospects.

· Develop and implements strategies that retain current constituents and expand our target audience through, but not limited to: community relations, speaking engagements, newsletters, community campaigns, and direct mail.

· Research and prepare grant proposals, including letters of intent, in conjunction with approved budget.

· Oversee and coordinate donor stewardship activities and campaigns.

· Develop and coordinate a planned giving program.

3. Responsible for Data Base Development

· Maintain records and filing system of donors and prospects, including all call reports in eTapestry regarding all donors and prospective donors

· Manage donor activity in the database to maximize fundraising opportunities

· Process thank you letters for all donors, both financial and in-kind.

4. Responsible for coordination of all fundraising events for WovenLife

· Coordinate WovenLife signature event; including development of budget, recruitment of volunteers and coordinating with vendors and other event related constituents. Work closely with committee in coordinating all aspects of event.

· Coordinate event logistics, publicity, including public relations, advertising and collateral material design, production and distribution.

· Lead projects as assigned, such as cause-related marketing and special events.

5. Responsible for coordination of all aspects of marketing for the organization

· Coordinate the marketing, communications and public relations activities and materials including publications, media relations, client acquisition and so forth.

· Maintain and update website, working closely with all departments to oversee up to date articles and information.

· Ensure articulation of WovenLife desired image and position, assure consistent communication of image and position throughout the organization, and assure communication of image and position to all constituencies, both internal and external.

· Keep informed of developments in the fields of development, marketing, communications and public relations. Maintain active memberships in relative organizations or professional affiliations.

· Maintain an updated list of all media contacts.

· Broaden social networking to benefit the organization.

6. Responsible for budget oversight

· Take active role in budgeting process; including ensuring fundraising budgets are followed and revenue goals are met.

· Provides detailed information about how much money must be raised to meet budget criteria

· Reconciles eTapestry gift information with Chief Operating Officer on quarterly basis

7. Responsible for Volunteer Management

· Manage all aspects of volunteer committees and volunteer coordination, including but not limited to, staffing, recruitment, supervision, training and acknowledgement.

8. Perform other duties as assigned by CEO and work as a team member with WovenLife staff and administration.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years of fundraising experience, particularly with major gifts acquisition, preferred.
  • Proven management and leadership capabilities
  • Experience working with Senior Level executives in a corporate environment.
  • High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative.
  • Strong verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to write and speak clearly and persuasively
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and thorough understanding of strategic development
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate, and manage new accounts
  • Strong partnership-building and event planning skills
  • Superior organization, prioritization and attention to detail.
  • Advanced problem solving abilities and multi-tasking skills.
  • MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, database management skills and the ability to learn fund raising and web design and management computer software programs. Graphic design experience desirable.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision in a small office environment is required.
  • Ability to hold a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License and possesses a car that can be used for work purposes.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including some weekend hours 3-5 years of fundraising experience, particularly with major gifts acquisition, preferred.
  • Proven management and leadership capabilities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
