Oklahoma City Philharmonic is Hiring a Marketing and Public Relations Director Near Oklahoma, OK

Reports to: Executive Director
Department: Marketing
FLSA Status: Exempt
Schedule: 9am – 5pm (M-F), with some evenings and weekends

POSITION SUMMARY

The primary goal of this position is to grow and develop audiences for concerts and programs. The Director oversees marketing strategies and budget, market analysis, brand identity and awareness, web presence, media relations, ad buys, community partnerships, social media, and sales strategies. The role requires the ability to craft and disseminate compelling stories that promote OKCPHIL programs and events. This role is a member of the senior leadership team reporting to the Executive Director (ED).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establishes a marketing plan encompassing the overall season, individual concerts, educational programs, development and fundraising activities, and community performances
  • Creates an annual budget and maintains budget projections for the Marketing Department; channels departmental billing to the Finance Director; works with all media sales representatives on media buys
  • Generates media stories through press releases, personal contacts, and promotions
  • Collaborates in the broader community for community partnerships and along with ED, is the point person for marketing and box office relations with the Civic Center Music Hall reviewing all permits concerning Box office management
  • Writes TV and radio spots and directs media messaging with the input of the ED
  • Creates creative concepts for season campaigns in collaboration with graphic designers, and generates video concepts
  • Provides oversight to the marketing team and facilitates positive communications with the Development, Education, Production, Finance, and other departments at the OKCPHIL, the marketing community, and the community in general
  • Coordinates professional photos for media usage and archival purposes
  • Ensures positive public-facing messaging for all digital, e-mail, print, video, and face-to-face public relations in the community
  • Maintains media schedules and sales calendars in collaboration with the marketing/box office team focused on driving contributed and earned revenue growth
  • Develop a marketing and communications dashboard to demonstrate the overall efficacy of plans
  • Acts as the spokesperson for the OKCPHIL when the ED and Music Director are unavailable
  • Other duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Experience creating and implementing a successful multi-channel promotional strategy
  • A track record of success in marketing or sales, an emphasis on performing arts preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Experience managing multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously
  • Knowledge of orchestral music, or music in general sufficient to write related copy
  • Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Sit and stand for extended periods, and walk, bend, and reach to access files/storage and office equipment
  • Using a computer while sitting for extended periods is common
  • Ability to communicate orally with customers, vendors, management, and coworkers
  • Regular use of phone and email for communication
  • Hearing and vision correctable to within normal ranges for normal conversations, receiving ordinary information and preparing or inspecting documents
  • No heavy lifting is expected, though occasional exertion of about 20 lbs. of force (e.g., picking up and carrying binders, and laptops) may be required
  • Manual dexterity is required to use common office equipment (e.g., computers, mobile devices, calculators, copiers, scanners)
