The HR Director will be responsible for leading and managing the Sales function across 26 locations in the United States, with projected mass growth over the next 2-3 years. The ideal candidate will collaborate with our sales leaders to turn strategy into action, resolving talent gaps, and seizing opportunities that support our goals of hiring, engaging, developing, and retaining our talent. The successful candidate also takes part in large-scale HR projects that will have an impact across the entire organization. This role will have one direct report with the potential to grow the team as the organization grows. This role reports to the Vice-President, People Operations and is located in Fulton, MD.

Core Role Responsibilities

  • Integrates the organization's mission and values into daily and strategic work and inspires others to model them in their own behavior
  • Drives the talent strategy, including robust succession planning, development of internal talent, along with the recruitment strategy
  • Draws upon business metrics to encourage the continuous improvement of talent and business capabilities. Builds a robust understanding of industry, market and functional trends, crafting business-specific talent strategics driven by data insights
  • Collaborates with other leaders to set the department's priorities in alignment with the larger strategic direction of the organization to ensure cross-functional alignment
  • Coaches others on the strategic vision of the organization and articulates its impact on team members
  • Develops, communicates, and executes action plans to achieve departmental goal
  • Accounts for the business model and resourcing constraints when executing initiatives
  • Delivers results in a fast-paced environment with a high-volume workload
  • Employs a highly collaborative leadership approach to effectively influence and drive innovative change across multiple locations
  • Elevate our talent agenda by strengthening the capability framework as well as identification of feeder roles within the organization for high potential development to leadership levels
  • Effectively manages multiple priorities, challenges and projects
  • Applies HR knowledge / experience across all HR policies, programs, processes, and functions
  • Ensures policies and practices comply with employment laws and regulations
  • Role requires at least 30% US travel
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with major concentration in HR or business-related field
  • 8 years of comprehensive HR experience to include direct leadership
  • Experience as a senior HR business partner supporting executive leadership
  • Experience supporting client groups across multiple locations across the US
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in implementing and managing sales incentive programs, career paths in a sales function and developing best in class sales leaders
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary practices in the administration of HR policies, including (but not limited to): compensation philosophy, compensation and performance review processes, performance management, proactive employee relations, issue investigation and resolution, and recruiting
  • Outstanding project management and presentation skills
  • Effective consultation skills with the ability to influence leaders
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and act with a high level of tact and emotional intelligence
  • Skilled in developing and leveraging professional relationships with leadership, subordinates, and peers
  • Results/action orientation with an assertive, confident, and proactive leadership style
  • Comfort working in a dynamic environment - ability to deal with ambiguity and to adapt easily to rapidly changing business conditions
  • Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement experience
  • High business acumen, strategic leadership and analytical skills. Ability to understand the business priorities and the competitive environment as well as the financial implications and risks associated with talent decisions, and develop and execute HR strategies that align with overall business objectives
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills; demonstrated skill in negotiation, conflict resolution, and communicating across all levels of an organization.
  • Ideal candidate will have prior experience supporting operations organizations and/or home improvement
