Westminster Christian Academy is Hiring a Receptionist Near Lafayette, LA

General Description: The school receptionist position is the first line of communication between WCA and the public. A Biblical world and life view will be reflected in each incoming call, it's handling, and the impression that one has of WCA to the praise and glory of God.
Contracted By: The Board of Directors upon recommendation from the President for one year
Responsible To: Executive Coordinator
Supervises: N/A
Observable Actions: The Receptionist 1 shall exhibit integrity and discernment, striving for continuous improvement in the job requirements and exhibiting all related skills in the areas below. The individual in this position receives incoming calls, determines nature of calls, takes messages or directs to appropriate offices and performs a variety of clerical duties. The person in this position must possess:

Spiritual:
Model a daily walk with Jesus Christ in attitude, speech and actions.

Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, administration and staff.
Demonstrate brotherly love within the Body of Christ for students, parents and staff.
Lead devotion(s) according to the yearly schedule.

Attend regularly and faithfully support a local church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with the WCA Statement of Faith.
Responsibilities for Receptionist 1:
The Receptionist 1 duties include, but are not limited to, the following functions:
Basic clerical duties such as setting up files and binders, filing, making copies, answering incoming phone calls, directing calls, paperwork retention, updating forms, listening to voicemail, checking email, taking and distributing messages and mail, shredding, making coffee, etc.
Responsible for preparing the front office for business and have open by 7:05 am and responsible for closing down the office and locking doors at 3:30.
Responsible for dispersing medication to students and organizing and maintaining all aspects of medication and medical forms.
Responsible for making sure all communication, paperwork, copies, etc. that needs transporting to the other campus is ready, organized and put in a designated area to be sent to Opelousas.
Responsible for tracking students that need to go to detention weekly and notifying students and teachers based on students tardies and absences.
Greet parents and visitors and direct them to appropriate divisions.
Issue visitor passes and verify all sign-ins/sign-outs.
Support teachers, students, parents and administration with any needs.
Collect and distribute items to and from the Opelousas campus.
Serve PM dismissal duty daily according to yearly schedule.
Alternate morning devotions, chapels and other school functions with Receptionist 2.
Contact parents and forward all calls as requested to teachers and administration.
Dispersing all items from the office to the proper persons/locations-i.e. Student lunches, books, homework, mail, homework request etc.
Keeps the main office free from clutter and loud noise in order to present a professional welcoming environment.
Clean and maintain sick room, Book Store Closet, front office area and kitchen as needed.
Responsible assessing injured students that are sent to the office.
Responsible for inventorying medical supplies and office supplies and turning in orders as needed.
Responsible for tracking all fieldtrips for the school and making sure medication goes along with students that need daily medication while on fieldtrips along with health forms.
Intercept calls to and from the classrooms via intercom. i.e. teacher request, check outs, etc.
Receive urgent maintenance request from staff and assign day porter.
Prepare for the beginning of the school year set up and end of the school year break down. i.e. Open House, Family Work Day, 1st and last day pick up, cleaning checklists, organizing cabinets and drawers, etc.
Assist with early dismissals on Fridays.
Assists in entering daily attendance

Seek and/or accept the counsel of the administrator and colleagues, while maintaining a teachable attitude.
Provide input and recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school.
Attend and participate in the scheduled orientations, devotions, conferences, special school functions, seminars, retreats, in-service and scheduled meetings i.e. committee, faculty, and P.T.F.
Study and know the procedures for crisis management issues including but not limited to, fire and tornado drills and lockdown procedures.
Contribute to the general improvement of the school program.
Refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately.
Be knowledgeable of the student and employee handbook and help to enforce areas outlined in the book.
Strive to follow the conditions/standards of employment as outlined in your contract.
Perform any miscellaneous duties, which may be assigned by the administration
