WESTMINSTER CHRISTIAN ACADEMY is Hiring an Accounts Payable Coordinator Near Opelousas, LA

General Description: The Accounts Payable Coordinator demonstrates a spiritual maturity in attitude, actions, and speech, showing a consistent walk with Jesus Christ to the praise and glory of God. This is a full-time position.

Contracted By: The Board of Directors upon recommendation from the President

Responsible To: The CFO

Supervises: N/A

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in an Accounts Payable role
  • High School degree required. Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable principles and processes
  • Experience with sales tax preferred
  • Attention to detail
  • Must be computer literate
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word software required
  • Must have basic business office skills including typing, filing, and financial skills
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential
  • Ability to work independently and pro-actively
  • Possesses the ability to multitask and good organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills

Physical Requirements: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, use clear vision both up close and at a distance, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds

Observable Actions: The Accounts Payable Coordinator shall exhibit integrity as a Christian leader, striving for continuous improvement in the job requirements and exhibiting all related skills in the areas below.

1.0 Spiritual:

  • Models a daily walk with Jesus Christ in attitude, speech and actions
  • Shows by example the importance of Biblical knowledge and study, prayer, witnessing, and unity in Christian fellowship
  • Follows the Matthew 18 principle
  • Demonstrates brotherly love within the Body of Christ for students, parents, and staff

2.0 Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the friendly and helpful point of contact for all callers and guests to the Business Office and provides administrative assistance as needed
  • Responsible for ordering/stocking of department supplies
  • Oversees the processing of invoice and vendor payments
  • Enters all invoice information and ensures vendor payments are posted to correct expense accounts by analyzing invoice/expense report
  • Calculates and remits sales taxes by calculating requirements on paid invoices, including preparing the journal entry for posting
  • Reviews vendors’ statements for correctness, taking appropriate action so that bills do not become past due or are paid more than once.
  • Verifies that all purchase requests and invoices have proper approval
  • Ensures timely payment of all invoices.
  • Initiates weekly check runs, which includes processing, mailing, and filing
  • Works closely with CFO to monitor expenses according to budget
  • Organizes all A/P documentation and ensures all documentation is filed in a timely and orderly fashion.
  • Assists with processing and posting of credit card receipts and timely reconciliation and payment of credit card statement
  • Reviews accounts payable for completeness and correctness and reports any unusual activity to CFO
  • Assist with monthly AP financial close process by running applicable reports and reconciling
  • Track, verify, and prepare yearly 1099s
  • Assist with various school-related event reconciliations
  • Ensures that at the end of each business day all unused checks are locked and secured
  • Prepares reports as needed for the CFO
  • Any other duties not mentioned which are deemed necessary per the CFO

3.0 Professional

  • Utilizes educational opportunities for professional growth
  • Seeks and/or accept the counsel of the CFO and colleagues, while maintaining a teachable attitude
  • Provides input and recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the business office
  • Attends and participate in scheduled orientations, devotions, conferences, school functions, seminars, retreats, in-service, and scheduled meetings i.e. Committee, faculty, and P.T.F.
  • Contributes to the general improvement of the school program
  • Refuses to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately
  • Studies and knows the procedures for crisis management issues including, but not limited to, fire and tornado drills

4.0 Personal:

  • Demonstrates the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and punctuality
  • Meets everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism
  • Develops and maintains rapport with staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration

  • Maintains a personal appearance that is a role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and in agreement with school policy
  • Recognizes the need for good public relations.
  • Represents the school in favorable and professional manner to the constituency and general public
  • Attends regularly and faithfully support a local church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with the WCA Statement of Faith

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
