Part-Time Quality Assurance Specialist

West Metal Works Inc., a family owned, ASME certified, welding / fabrication job shop, located in Buffalo NY, is currently seeking an experienced Project / QA Manager.

Part-Time) . The ideal candidate must have an eye for detail and have ASME Section VIII experience.

Responsibilities include but not limited to :

• Job Cost Management
• Material Take-offs
• Develop and maintain vendor and customer relationships
• Verification / inspection of incoming material and accompanying documentation (CMTR’s)
• Inspection processes for welding, visual and mechanical inspection of products in accordance with project and customer specifications.
• Manage Weld Procedures and Welder Qualifications per ASME Code requirements
• Manage Welding Program (ASME Section IX)
• Manage Measuring and Test Equipment (MTE) Program
• Manage Nondestructive (NDE) Program
• Maintain all quality records for West Metal Works Inc.
• Prepare ASME documentation for Authorized Inspectors (A.I.) for review and approval
• Interface with shop personnel
• Assist President with additional duties as needed

Minimum qualifications :

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (preferred), or significant work history in manufacturing, welding, and metal fabrication
• Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude
• Knowledgeable in ASME Section VIII code requirements
• Knowledge of ASME code inspection process, testing and generation of data reports
• Experience working in a Union environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with manual inspection equipment (gauges, calipers, micrometers)
• Proficient with Microsoft Office & Autocad
• Ability to read and understand drawings, weld symbols, fabrication requirements
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task
• E2 / Shoptech software experience helpful but not necessary

Hours will be 7 : 30-4. Two (2) to Three (3) days per week as needed.

Flexible hours and / or hybrid work may also be an option.
