Wedbush Securities is a full-service investment bank and brokerage firm headquartered in the financial district of downtown Los Angeles. Our accounting department is seeking an Accountant to assist in the preparation of P&L reports, accounting entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Actively participate in the month end closing process
• Prepare month-end income and expense journal entries
• Prepare month-end balance sheet journal entries
• Responsible for month-end balance sheet account reconciliation, identification, escalation and resolution of issues associated with substantiation
• Create and update written controls and procedures
• Perform other duties as required and assigned

• Bachelor's degree in accounting
• Strong general accounting knowledge and understanding of U.S. GAAP
• Knowledge of Great Plains software is a plus
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) with strong Excel skills
• Highly organized and able to multi-task and manage multiple projects and competing priorities without sacrificing accuracy or efficiency
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively across various departments and levels of the organization
• Experience in Financial Services, particularly broker/dealer is a plus
