Position Title: Jr Cloud Software EngineerPosition Type:OnsitePosition Location:Annapolis Junction, MDClearance:Active TS/SCI Waypoint’s client is a leading organization in the technology sector, dedicated to innovation and excellence in their field. As a Junior Cloud Software Engineer, your primary focus will be supporting all facets of agile software design and development for capabilities integrated into a Data Warehouse. Your duties will encompass the development of new capabilities, testing, optimization, performance tuning, operation, and sustainment functions. Responsibilities:
Communicating directions and providing guidance to junior programmer/analysts, as required.
Developing solutions that integrate or extend Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) or Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) products.
Evaluating project needs, determining tasks and durations, and generating and reviewing designs for technical accuracy and completeness.
Contribute to open-source applications.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree plus 2-years of relevant experience or Master's degree plus 1-year of relevant experience. An Associate's degree plus 5-years of relevant experience or high school diploma/GED plus 7-years of relevant experience may be considered for individuals with in-depth experience that is clearly related to the position.
Computer Science (CS) degree or related field
TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
Proficiency in Java programming for distributed systems, with expertise in networking and multi-threading.
Experience with Apache Hadoop, Apache Accumulo, and Apache NiFi.
Agile development experience, ensuring adaptability and efficiency in project execution.
Strong understanding of Linux fundamentals and proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Ruby, Perl).
Familiarity with source code management practices and tools, including Git and Maven.
Proficiency in enabling tools such as Jira for project management.
Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Testing tools like Bamboo, Jenkins, and GitLab CI/Pipelines.
Knowledge of Continuous Monitoring tools such as the ELK Stack (ElasticSearch, Logstash, and Kibana) and Nagios.
Familiarity with microservices software development techniques and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
