Compensation:
  • In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
Role Summary:

The Haven Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) Therapist (Clinician) is responsible for conducting mental health assessments, providing ongoing individual and group counseling services, screening for human trafficking concerns, and providing crisis intervention services to Unaccompanied Children (UC). The clinician demonstrates knowledge of trauma-focused informed care and infuses a Wayfinder-adopted trauma-informed framework in daily interactions with staff and unaccompanied children.

  • Serves as a role model for children, youth and families served by Wayfinder. Maintains emotional stability and an ability to function effectively with children, adolescents and/or adults who may always have mental and/or behavioral health problems. Demonstrates appropriate daily behavior, expressions of emotion and professionalism that is free of hostility, aggression and/or unnecessary/inappropriate physical actions.
  • Responsible for delivering and coordinating Mental Health Services to clients and families as defined by Wayfinder’s Policy and Procedure and the Core Practice Model. Such services are inclusive of, but not limited to, conducting intake screenings, processing the steps for admission, performing full clinical client assessments, developing individualized treatment plans with clients and families, conducting individual, group and/or family therapy and/or rehabilitation services in adherence with the Client Treatment Plan (CTP) and engaging family members/caregivers/identified support persons in regular collateral contacts/sessions.
  • Maintains client confidentiality in accordance with agency Policy and Procedures, respective county guidelines and any applicable state regulations. Also adheres to any and all county/state state-mandated reporting obligations.
  • Responsible for delivering therapeutic interventions/services to and/or on behalf of the client as established by the CTP and consistent with established standards of practice and standards of proficiency discussed and established in clinical and administrative supervision.
  • Maintains 24/7 on-call availability for attending to crisis intervention services unless otherwise approved by department leadership.

Qualifications


  • A master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university is required.
  • California licensure as an Associate Social Worker (ASW) or Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) in good standing is required.
  • Bilingual: (English/Spanish) is preferred.
  • Possess the relevant experience and/or qualifications to work with UC and/or children with special needs including trauma histories.
  • A minimum of two years of experience working with high-risk children, adolescents, adults and/or families within the Mental Health, Educational, Child Welfare.

Specific Requirements:

  • Valid CA Driver License with a minimum of two (2) years good driving history and must be approved by the agency’s insurance carrier to drive agency vehicles. Or ability to facilitate travel for and with clients to and from potential job sites and lesson destinations used for training, using available transportation resources which may include public transportation, rideshare, etc.

Wayfinder requires a thorough background screening process, including fingerprinting and a health screening.

Wayfinder practices Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) principles which recognize the signs, symptoms, and widespread impact of trauma. Employees integrate the knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care into policies, procedures, and practices to prevent re-traumatization which promotes the healing of families, youth, individuals, and communities.
