Job Summary:

As a Systems Administrator, you are responsible for managing and maintaining company technology systems and the hardware that hooks up to that system.

Essential Functions:

• Manage servers, network and storage equipment through maintenance of existing equipment, establishing new equipment requirements, installation of new equipment, etc.
• Determine performance standards. Ensure employees’ understanding and compliance with performance standards through establishment of accountability for work. Complete performance appraisals and conduct coaching and counseling sessions.
• Ensure all safety and work rules and regulations are followed. Ensure departmental housekeeping standards.
• Be available 24/7 for support during times of high volume.
• Responsible for the research, selection, development and implementation of industry best practices.
• Responsible for the maintenance and installation of peripheral equipment.
• Responsible for the installation and monitoring of all software upgrades, patches, and services packs for all equipment.
• Responsible for basic server, storage, and back-up equipment troubleshooting assignments, as commensurate with experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to maintain and install data center equipment as designated by his/her manager.
• Extensive understanding of the Windows server operating system.
• Extensive understanding of the Windows operating system Registry file.
• Extensive knowledge of the Solaris Unix operating system.
• Extensive knowledge of the Macintosh OS X operating system.
• Experience interfacing with the user community.
• An advanced understanding of network routing issues.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects.
• Ability to remain organized and self-directed in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to interface with a variety of individuals or groups on a frequent basis.
• Ability to work with limited direction and supervision, while demonstrating good judgment and strict confidence.
• Ability to learn computer applications as necessary for the position.
• Must successfully complete any training or certification courses required to support or strengthen position.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions, work procedures and other related materials.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong customer service skills.
• Must communicate appropriate information accurately and clearly as needed.
• Demonstrated advanced proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Windows based databases.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field and two years’ experience in Systems Administration or a related function OR
• Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field and four years’ experience in Systems Administration or a related function OR
