A cyber security specialist plays a crucial role in protecting an organization's computer systems and networks from security breaches and cyber threats. Here's a detailed job description typically associated with this role: 

Job Responsibilities: 

• Continuously monitor security systems (e.g., antivirus/antimalware, EDR, intrusion detection systems, employee training software, SIEM) to identify potential vulnerabilities or attacks. 
• Investigate security breaches or incidents to determine the root cause and extent of the damage. 
• Assist in the development and execution of incident response plans to minimize the impact of security breaches. 
• Assist in the identification and execution of system hardening to lessen vulnerability profile of systems. 
• Work cooperatively with the Cybersecurity team to execute regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify security weaknesses. 
• Implement remediation plans to address identified vulnerabilities. 
• Assist with the development and implementation of security policies, standards, and procedures. 
• Assist with ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., NIST, CIS, ISO). 
• Conduct security awareness training for employees to educate them about security best practices. 
• Keep abreast of the latest security trends, threats, and technologies. 
• Participate in the design and implementation of security architectures for new systems or upgrades. 
• Stay updated on emerging threats and vulnerabilities by leveraging threat intelligence sources. 

Required Skills and Qualifications: 

• Proficient in using security tools (e.g., SIEM, Endpoint protection). 
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and operating systems. 
• Knowledge of encryption techniques, secure coding practices, and cloud security. 
• Knowledge of Active Directory, Azure AD, and AWS IAM. 
• Ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions. 
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to think critically. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
• Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 
• CompTIA Security , Or related Certification (i.e., CompTIA CySa , or Google Cyber Security Certificate) 

Education: 

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. 
• College or Technical school degree/certifications preferred. 

Experience: 

• 5 years of work experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related field. 

Work Environment: 

This is a hybrid position with the ability to split time between on location and remote work. Initial onboarding with Walsworth requires on-location work for the onboarding period (1-3 months).
