W3Global Inc is Hiring a Construction Superintendent Near San Diego, CA

The superintendent's position ensures that the project is delivered successfully and on time. They collaborate with engineers and subcontractors to define project needs and oversee staff performance. Construction superintendents monitor projects from planning to completion, including tasks such as budgeting and scheduling. They follow quality standards and ensure the safety and security of the construction site. A construction superintendent also communicates and negotiates with external partners, such as vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Safety: Superintendent responsible for the following:

  • Verifying all BDI and OSHA safety requirements for the project and the tasks being completed, are being performed.

  • Holding Monday Morning Tailgate meetings to discuss the topic of the week and any site-specific safety issues.

  • Monitor all safety compliance by all BDI employees and our subcontractors.

  • Enforce the use of all PPE by all employees, clients, and visitors to the project site at all times.

Project Plans/Specs/Site:

  • Superintendent is required to review site specifications, all plans, and details, and have a working knowledge of all.

  • Superintendent understands bid breakdown and work toward doing all tasks with less costs shown in bid.

  • Superintendent responsible for all tasks that occur on their project site. Quality Control, Layout and the actual construction of all pieces of the project including work completed by the subcontractor.

  • Superintendent responsible for verifying and material/products used on site by our own forces or any of our subcontractors are per spec and submittal.

  • Superintendent responsible for informing the inspection agency on site on any necessary inspections, filling out all necessary inspection requests, and making sure the inspections are completed prior to any item of work being covered up. This includes necessary special inspections and soils inspections.

  • Follow CPM Schedule provided for project. Report any adjustments that need to be made to CPM schedule because of site conditions immediately.

  • Work with Project Manager and General Superintendent on two week look ahead to be provided at each weekly client meeting or CM Foreman Meeting. Two week look ahead to be completed each week even if not required by client.

  • Review and understand Material Buyout Form for the project. Review quantities, materials, and export loads. Discrepancies need to be brought up immediately.

Daily Reports: Due as close to the end of a work day as possible Daily Reports need to include all of the following information:

  • All Employees on site that day. Cost Coded to the tasks they performed, with their hours logged accurately. No banking hours allowed. All hours the employee is on site to be documented accurately.

  • All Employees that are classified as operators need to be listed on a piece of equipment in the equipment section below. Hours, cost codes and ratio need to match.

  • OT Column - The only information needed to be listed in the OT column is when there is a question of where the overtime needs to be charged. If an employee work 10hrs at one cost code, nothing needs to be in OT column. If an employee works 10hrs on 2 different cost codes or different classifications, then whichever cost code or classification he worked on at the end of the day needs to be listed in the OT column.

  • All Material received during the day and the accurate quantities.

  • All tasks performed on the site needs to be listed in the "Work on Site". Both BDI tasks and Subs tasks. BDI tasks and Subtasks need to be labeled.

  • "Misc. Notes" - Use this area for any points of interest that need to be recorded. Discussions with Subs, Inspectors, Clients, Notes for future reference, etc..

  • All Subcontractors on site and their quantity of employees on site.

  • Scheduled Tomorrow Area - Needs to be filled in with scheduled work for BDI and all scheduled subcontractors.

  • Change Order Numbering: Change Order Numbers cannot be assigned by the superintendent. These numbers need to be discussed with the Project Manager. The Project Manager assigns what cost code the change order money goes into, so that it matches the BMCR he/she has to fill out.

Job Forecast: Due no later than 7am Thursday morning each week for all active job sites.

  • Accurate estimate of Employees (with their classifications) and Equipment needed for the week.

  • Task List of items expected to be completed the upcoming week. Include subcontractor work items. Also state whether subcontractor is confirmed.

  • List of Material Items needed. All items must be quantified. If you need rebar, just writing rebar for curb is not enough. Actual take-off amounts need to be included. If take-off amounts were addressed via e-mail earlier and this item is just reminder, then quantities are not needed.

  • These areas to be filled out as needed. Scheduling Impact, Notes, and Equipment Call-Offs.
