Retirement Services Specialist

Duration : 12 Months

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree.
• Two (2) to three (3) years of HR / pension / benefits administration experience.
• Previous experience in the administration of defined benefit plans, processing benefit actions, and knowledge of general rules and regulations associated with defined benefit plans is preferred.
• Ability to perform calculations in Excel.
• Proficiency in creating templates and form letters, and editing and proofreading content in Word.
• Skill in composing generic business letters and communications to members.
• Strong listening skills to understand information presented verbally or in writing.
• Effective communication skills, both spoken and written.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to provide detailed and accurate information to supervisors and colleagues.
• Capability to accurately enter and manage sensitive member data while maintaining confidentiality.

Duties

• Verify that pension benefit applications are complete and accompanied by required documentation; refer incomplete applications to the Lead Retirement Analyst or another Analyst for further investigation.
• Utilize electronic tools (FileNet, PeopleSoft, STAR, Legacy systems, and / or the future Pension Administration System) to research member information.
• Calculate life insurance and retroactive life benefit adjustments.
• Calculate death benefits for retirees; check pension attributes, death benefits, and surviving spouse applications against appropriate plan documents and information to ensure eligibility requirements are met.
