Description:The Senior Accountant will oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions. The Senior Accountant’s responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures. A successful Senior Accountant engages well with the Accounting Team and other departments by having excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to identify risks and analyze financial reports. As we continue to grow our Accounting Team, the ideal candidate would also have experience collaborating and/or supervising staff and junior accountants.
Responsibilities:
Create, Review, and Prepare Journal Entries for multiple entities
Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close process
Prepare and summarize transactions report and financial status, involving a profit and loss statement, and other important reports in the organization
Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
Balances and maintains subsidiary accounts by allocating, posting, verifying, and reconciling accounts payables/receivables
Record, Review, and Reconcile fixed asset schedules
Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
Prepare any tax returns as needed
Take part in the forecast process and financial standard-setting
Provide input into department’s goal setting process
Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Liaise with Director of Finance and Accounting Manager to improve financial procedures
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required or relevant field
Masters degree in Accounting is preferred
5 years experience in accounting or finance
Complete understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Strong and good communication abilities, both verbal and written
Attention to detail and accuracy
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially with Excel aptitudes
Demonstrated ability to work in a supervisory/leadership role
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
