Job Description

The Sr. Director, Business Development is responsible for pursuing and executing new commercial partnerships with large enterprise platforms, including but not limited to enterprise SAAS, ERP, large data, and chip manufacturers. For this role we are seeking a seasoned sales & business development professional with experience navigating and building relationships into large organizations and a passion for finding common ground rooted in a growth and solutioning mindset. Successful candidates will have shown and can clearly demonstrate strong business and product acumen, deep industry experience and contacts in payments, financial services, and/or enterprise SAAS, and demonstrated ability to deliver results with complex partnership structures.

The opportunity is to join Visa’s Digital Partnerships team which works broadly across the payments, commerce, and digital landscape and internally within Visa’s product organization as well as other internal stakeholders to execute on commercial and strategic partnership opportunities. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Business Development:

  • Structure and execute end-to end commercial partnerships both with an identified list of enterprise platforms and new relationships formed across the ecosystem.
  • Establish commercial playbook for large enterprise client types and identify primary use-cases and capabilities for Visa to build into

Product Solutioning & Development:

  • Identify and pursue new capabilities for Visa to play a broader role in embedded finance and add value into large enterprise platforms.
  • Functional work includes inputs on use-cases, user flows, and architecture, supporting business case, capabilities sourcing in collaboration with the broader business development team, GTM planning into clients and prospects.
  • Requires strong collaboration with global & regional product teams, innovation and technology, and back-office support.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD
  • 5 years in enterprise software (or related field) sales or business development, with a proven track record of leading the entire sales process and closing deals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15 yrs. or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9 years of experience.
  • Self-starter who is driven and can find ways to move things forward, with ability to connect dots on complex ecosystem, across dozens of products and hundreds of prospects and potential partners.
  • Strong communication skills, energy, and ability to form and grow relationships while navigating into and across large organizations.
  • Leads by example, including enthusiasm and takes pride in their work, with a strong bias towards action.
  • Strong existing financial service, Fintech, payments, software, and/or banking experience
  • Demonstrated track record of planning, managing and closing complex, competitive commercial deals from negotiation, to closing and through delivery.
  • Strong storytelling capabilities and passion for financial services
  • Accountable and results-oriented mindset
  • Proven ability to partner, communicate and manage/navigate through multiple disciplines and organizational groups.
  • Ability to work within a complex and often ambiguous environment, and to influence senior management and other relevant parties.
  • Soft skills including genuine and open communication, active listening, compassionate, and inspires others.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 192,700.00 to 301,150.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
