HR OPERATIONS SPECIALIST

Verbio North America is looking for a Human Resources Operations, Payroll & Benefits Specialist that will administer all activities related to the company payroll, benefits, and HRIS. This will include developing, implementing, and monitoring processes, ensuring data correctness, and HR compliance. This individual will be subject matter expert for all payroll, benefits, and HRIS related matters.


POSITION DETAILS:

Job Type: Full-Time

FLSA: Exempt

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Location: Stamford, Connecticut

WHAT WE WILL EXPECT FROM YOU

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant years of experience.
  • Certifications such as CPP, CEBS, or PHR/SHRM_CP, a plus.
  • Proven work experience as Payroll Administrator (minimum 5 years) preferably in a multi-state company.
  • Work experience should include knowledge of basic HR, payroll, benefits, and compliance related topics.
  • Familiarity with HCM and Payroll platforms such as Paycor, ADP Workforce Now, Paychecks, etc.
  • Outstanding analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Sound judgement and integrity, ability to handle confidential information.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to make prompt, informed decisions while working independently

Responsibilities:

PAYROLL

  • Work directly with the payroll outsource company by providing, reviewing, and approving all the necessary data for bi-weekly payroll for hourly, shift, salaried, and temporary employees in multi-company and multi-state operations, including reviewing hours from time and attendance module, employee deductions and contributions, processing garnishments, tax levies, and other adjustments to pay as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all the local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Respond to all unemployment claims in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all required records and documents are obtained and stored/retained.
  • Administer the time and attendance policy and paid leave policy for all employees.
  • Produce reports pertaining to payroll and other human resources matters.

BENEFITS:

  • Administer all employee benefit programs and manage enrollments and terminations.
  • Coordinate and conduct the new employee onboarding and induction process.
  • Fulfill all governmental regulatory mandates and ensure filings are performed as required.
  • Plan and administer annual open enrollment process. This includes preparation (or revision) and distribution of materials, conducting meetings to communicate any changes, arranging presentations and education sessions, and processing changes within deadlines.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of benefits enrollments to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Work closely with Finance/Accounting on quarterly and year end audits (payroll, Workers Comp, 401k, etc.)
  • Address benefit inquiries to ensure timely and accurate resolutions. Maintain contact with employees to facilitate proper and complete utilization of benefits for all employees.
  • Review all benefits invoices for accuracy. Resolve discrepancies with carriers and payroll. Performs monthly reconciliation of all invoices.
  • Coordinate with third party administrator to manage disability claims according to the plan.
  • Administers COBRA notices, enrollments, changes and reports elections to the benefits providers.
  • Handles all leave requests and manages FMLA, maternity, paternity, LOA, STD/LTD.
  • Manages 401(k) enrolments and ensures compliance with employee and employer deferrals and contributions.

HRIS ADMINISTRATION:

  • Maintains complete and accurate electronic employee personnel files and records.
  • Coordinates pre-employment paperwork and processes.
  • Maintains data integrity in systems by running queries, analyzing data, and reviewing source documents for accuracy and completion of data input.
  • Generates files/reports such as the EEO1/Vets 100, annual non-discrimination testing for benefits plans, monthly and quarterly reports, as well as other special and ad hoc reports as requested.
  • Works closely with the HR team and employees to ensure data accuracy in the HRIS.
  • Evaluates and implements systems upgrades and changes.

ABOUT US:

The VERBIO Nevada Biorefinery, located in Nevada, Iowa (USA), is the first industrial scale renewable natural gas (RNG) facility in North America using agricultural residues as its feedstock. The plant is 100% owned by VERBIO North America Holdings Corporation.

RNG production from corn stover began in December 2021 with the completion of Phase I, at a capacity of 7 million ethanol gallons equivalent (EGE) per year. Upon completion of Phase II in the 4th quarter of 2022, the site will begin operating as a biorefinery, producing 60 million gallons of corn-based ethanol and an additional 19 million (EGE) of RNG from stillage. The integration of RNG and ethanol production, unique to VERBIO, incorporates advanced operational technology currently practiced at the company’s facilities in Germany. The process also yields humus, a soil amendment, and organic fertilizers.


VERBIO Diesel Canada
is the 45 million gallon per year biodiesel facility located in Welland, Ontario (Canada). The plant is a wholly owned subsidiary of VERBIO Vereinigte BioEnergie AG and has been operating since August 2019. The plant is currently designed to run on canola and soybean oil and produces crude glycerin and biodiesel transportation fuel as outputs. We are currently developing plans to eventually double the nameplate capacity of the plant, accept different types of feedstocks, and implement several of VERBIO’s proprietary technologies, including crude oil refining and crude glycerin distillation.


VERBIO Vereinigte BioEnergie AG (VERBIO AG)
, with headquarters in Leipzig, Germany, is a leading independent manufacturer of biofuels and bioenergy in Germany and Europe.
