How You’ll Make an Impact

The purpose of this position is to grow the Valvoline business by analyzing, calling on, and servicing the Retail, Commercial and Ecommerce touchpoints across DIY strategic accounts for the Valvoline family of products. While having direct sales and analyst responsibility for an owned account, this position will also support larger account(s) as assigned. This position will have extensive knowledge of the channel of trade and will create and execute a selling platform, provide critical insights, and lead account specific systems that deliver strategic growth for the Valvoline Company. Relationship building with the key accounts is critical to the success of this role. 

  • Analyze the accounts business delivering impactful reporting and insights to support management and optimization of the business. Lead Business Scorecards, including insights on the Retail business to identify opportunities and risks. Support strategic direction and execution in owned account. .
  • Own the point-of-sale forecast, support inventory analysis and lead promotion performance output. Seek out continued improvements with promotions and forecasts. Lead channel and financial monthly business reviews provide volume forecasts, pricing, and margin analysis for owned account while supporting assigned key accounts. Manage Trade Pro and Alloy reporting systems for assigned accounts.
  • In collaboration with Valvoline planning and analysis, develop annual account plans. Review sales, volume/share, and profit at least monthly, to monitor progress and manage P&L to deliver sales and profit objectives. Lead accrual management process recommending adjustments as needed.
  • Lead initiatives for the owned account to attain growth targets as outlined in the Valvoline Strategic plan. Position will work with Trade Marketing, Brand Marketing, and Sr. Sales Staff to develop strategic and effective selling platforms including price, trade programs, promotions, shipping programs, and marketing support.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and responsiveness, advancing strategic initiatives across the account with Face-to-face meetings/travel to customer locations and other venues as required to be successful at the above objectives.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelors degree required. Masters degree preferred. 
  • Minimum 5 years of sales, marketing and/or industry experience.
  • Relevant industry/consumer goods / retail / promotions experience and analytical strength using Microsoft Excel is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively while positioning Valvoline to win in the retail/commercial marketplace.
  • High levels of organization and planning are required as well as a willingness to build better, lasting relationships with the customers. This would include but not be limited to leading projects, annual reviews, top/top presentations and marketing plans.
  • Candidate should have experience in understanding financial statements and understanding profit drivers and product/portfolio optimization.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage projects and objectives independently.
  • Responsiveness and a high attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with business growth levers including revenue, volume, share, opportunity cost and return on investment calculations.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% 
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
