Job Summary
TheUniversity of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for a full-time, 9-month VisitingAssistant Professor position in the College of Nursing and Health Professions,School of Leadership and Advanced Nursing Practice. This 9-month, visitingfaculty position requires teaching graduate and/or undergraduate-level coursesin the College, mentoring students, and providing service to the school,college, university, and professional organizations. Qualified applicants withteaching/practice experience as a board-certified Family Nurse Practitionerand/or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) are welcome toapply.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develop and teach graduate courses and potentially upper-level undergraduate courses.
2. Contribute broadly to our thriving graduate and undergraduate nursing programs.
3. Mentor/advise graduate students. Possess a passion to educate graduate students.
4. Supervise nurse practitioner students and clinical faculty in the clinical setting (e.g., monitor clinical hours, approve preceptors, maintain clinical contracts) as needed.
5. Develop and maintain syllabi, lesson plans, and more for each course taught.
6. Adhere to the clinical and class schedules as posted.
7. Follow the policies of the College of Nursing and Health Professions, the School of Leadership and Advanced Nursing Practice and/or the School of Professional Nursing Practice and affiliate clinical sites.
8. Turn in course specific documentation as scheduled.
9. Communicate course requirements to students in a timely manner.
10. Available to assigned students for support and course advising including exams, required remediation, and summative evaluations.
11. Collaborate with the Course Coordinator to plan, implement, and evaluate each course offering to maintain quality and effectiveness.
12. Attend scheduled program, school, college, and university meetings.
13. Provide service to the school, college, university, and professional organization.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
