USA for UNHCR is Hiring a Senior Associate, Mid-Level Gifts Near Washington, DC

POSITION SUMMARY

USA for UNHCR is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Associate of Mid-level Gifts to join our dynamic Private Philanthropy team. As Senior Associate, Mid-level Gifts, you will play a crucial role in the implementation of our strategic plan to grow our robust and evolving mid-level giving program (annual gift range between $1,000 to $9,999.99). Your focus will be to bring bold new visions to life in donor communications that inspire and inform. You will also extend our connections with these committed supporters, deepening relationships through personal outreach while securing significant financial support for UNHCR's humanitarian efforts worldwide. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Mid-level Giving, you will contribute to the organization's mission of providing life-saving assistance and protection to refugees and displaced persons around the globe.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Donor Advancement (40%)

  • Work with our external consultants to manage the daily duties of the concierge service program. This includes qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding mid-level donors and prospects by:
  • Soliciting and assisting donors with their giving
  • Answering questions and inquiries from donor ambassadors and donors as needed
  • Assisting with weekly stewardship of donors
  • Help launch new initiatives to extend operations and reach
  • Collaborate with Development colleagues and external partners to generate actionable reports that drive mid-level donor acquisition, retention, recapture and upgrades.
  • Works with the Private Philanthropy, Direct Response and Stewardship teams to create donor-centered communications and engagement opportunities, such as proposals, reports, virtual events and email updates, as needed
  • Recommend changes to improve systems and procedures when identified
  • Stay knowledgeable of industry best-practices 

Direct Response – All Channels (50%)

  • Assist with the mid-level direct response program across all channels (direct mail, digital, telemarketing, SMS, face to face, DRTV and other channels), working closely with channel managers to meet key performance indicators such as improving the donor experience
  • Champion the mid-level audience needs in messaging, creative and segmentation for all campaigns, including testing of new appeals and communications
  • Help to ensure the right donor journeys are being deployed to each mid-level audience segmentation, ensuring appropriate integrated and omnichannel threads across channels
  • Monitor and analyze results and trends; report out on performance and make recommendations to improve metrics and efficiencies to the Senior Manager, Mid-level Gifts and other leadership stakeholders of the mid-level giving program

Planning, Budgeting & Business Practices (10%)

  • Contribute to annual planning, budgeting and forecasting
  • Update CRM (currently Salesforce) with contact reports, engagement plans and tasks to ensure continuity of donor management 
  • Develop a strong familiarity with USA for UNHCR and UNHCR culture, programs, procedures and strategic goals to convey key messages to donors and partners
  • Take on other tasks as directed by the Sr. Manager, Mid-level Gifts and Director of Pipeline Development

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years of related experience, including demonstrated direct marketing experience with individual giving and mid-level donors; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to solicit and close $1,000 gifts
  • Understand the principles of mid-level fundraising, including moves management and major donor prospect cultivation processes
  • Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills, including strong writing skills
  • Ability to synthesize complex programs and projects into concise, compelling proposals and donor communication assets
  • Strong analytical skills and data-informed mindset, with proficiency in CRM (Salesforce preferred) and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of international humanitarian issues and/or experience working in the refugee or development sector is desirable
  • Must be self-sufficient and self-motivated; must be able to work successfully, both individually and as part of a team
  • Demonstrates sound judgement and strong decision-making skills
  • Demonstrates emotional intelligence and integrity when interacting with employees, peers and donors
  • Some travel required – up to 20% in support of donor outreach

WORK LOCATION 

Hybrid Washington, DC May also involve travel to some locations within the company’s region of operations and select donor locations.

COMPENSATION

$57,215 - $71,519
