US Green Building Council is Hiring a Technology Project Manager Near Washington, DC

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a global, nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., working to improve human health, sustainability, and resilience in the built environment through its programs and standards including LEED, the most widely used green building rating system in the world. Today, people in over 150 countries and territories live, work, and learn in LEED certified buildings, communities and cities that protect health, climate and natural resources and enhance quality of life.

USGBC is currently seeking a Technology Project Manager. This role is focused on technical projects such as website & application development and infrastructure improvement. This role will interface with key internal stakeholders, technical team leads, and the director of the Project Management Office. This role’s responsibilities include scope, content, and goals for the project through defining and executing project plans, assisting in the assignment of appropriate resources, ensuring adherence to project scope, taking actions to ensure deadlines can be met if/when project conditions change, communicating project status and managing expectations with key stakeholders, and delivery of quality products through user acceptance testing and monitoring.


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, plan, and develop requirements and standards in reference to scheduled projects
  • Work closely with business owners and technical staff to document and communicate project requirements and conduct user acceptance testing
  • Host technical project meetings with internal and external clients to keep them up to date on milestones and overall project status
  • Hold regular technical team meetings to determine progress and address any questions or challenges regarding projects
  • Determine and define clear deliverables, roles and responsibilities for team members required for specific projects or initiatives
  • Facilitate communication with leadership and other key strategy stakeholders, including regular reports and strategy progress meetings
  • Document and follow up on important actions and decisions from meetings
  • Develop, promote, and maintain standards and tools for portfolio and project management, with the goal of delivering every project on time, within budget, and within scope
  • Possess a thoughtful leadership mindset; operate tactfully and effectively
  • Ensure project deadlines are met and products are delivered with quality
  • Manage scope changes and stakeholder expectations

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • 5 years of managing technical projects (Websites, Applications, Operations, or Infrastructure)
  • Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles
  • Demonstrated understanding of Project Management processes, strategies, and methods
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and experience establishing guidelines in these areas for others
  • Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality
  • Preferred: Professional Project Management Certification from accredited intuition, or project management degree, or relevant technical degree (i.e. Information Technology, Computer Science, etc.)
  • Preferred: Experience with Agile methodologies and tools preferred
