US Environmental is Hiring an Environmental, Health & Safety Manager (FT) Near Downingtown, PA

Our team is comprised of logisticians, engineers, technicians and supply chain experts, as well as professionals in other administrative and specialized areas who work at multiple locations across the United States.
Opportunity: Full-time Position Monday-Friday 07:30-17:30 (or closing).

Title:
Safety Manager.
Location: Downingtown, PA.
Local Environmental company seeking an organized and professional individual with ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, to join our growing team. You will perform clerical and administrative functions in order to continue the company’s success.
I. Upon arrival at office:
A) Review TRANSFLO Telematic and paper logs for correction(s) needed
  • Notify drivers and make necessary changes.
  • File paper logs per employee file.
B) Update/review/edit any information to employee matrix on server. Notify any Department Manager & Employee of certifications that are nearing expiration or have expired.
C) Do a daily US ENV Property Audit inside/outside. Check property & surroundings while in yard. Also check any US ENV Equipment for any expired permits or damage, etc.
D) Review any surveillance cameras at US ENV upstairs & downstairs.
E) Review any issues with President/GM, or approved manager from above.
F) Update injury board daily.
II. Perform tasks as required from the EH&S Job Description, described
Environmental, Health & Safety Manager:
  • Appointed by the Shareholders.
  • Reviewed annually by the President.
  • Supervisor: President.
  • Typically requires a college degree and 1 to 2 years of relevant experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are the responsibilities and duties of the Environmental, Health & Safety Manager. These have been listed, not necessarily in order of priority, for your convenience. You can use this to familiarize yourself with basic functions and expectations. Should you have any questions, please contact your supervisor.
They are as follows:
  • Site Safety Audits
    • Responsible for completing safety assessments of sites.
    • Track all safety concerns found on job sites.
    • Make recommendations on ways to improve safety.
    • Follow-up with employees on safety concerns found at job sites.
    • Report to the President any major areas of concern regarding employees or work practices.
    • Plan and post proper emergency escape route(s) throughout the US ENV property.
    • Properly mark all fire extinguisher locations throughout the building.
  • Health & Safety Plans
    • Have Health & Safety Plans evaluated on a yearly basis.
    • Make sure any changes in the plan are distributed throughout the company.
  • Facility Audits
    • Complete facility audits yearly.
    • Make recommendations after completing the facility audit.
    • Do a follow-up audit immediately when major safety violations are found.
    • A reasonable time frame should be given to the person in charge to correct any major safety violations.
    • Do a six (6) month follow-up audit to ensure all new procedures are being adhered to.
  • Vehicle Permits
    • Complete and keep current all vehicle permits.
    • Provide all decal labeling/placement to the maintenance manager for all vehicles.
    • Add new vehicles to the insurance.
    • Keep current all registration cards.
    • Ensure all current permit authorizations are in every vehicle.
    • Keep vehicle files up to date (i.e. tank tests, permits, registrations, etc.).
  • Monthly Safety Meetings
    • Complete Agenda with input from operational personnel.
    • Run all quarterly safety meetings.
    • Set-up all guest speakers and make all arrangements required for the meeting.
    • Complete sign-up sheet at every meeting.
    • Keep all records of safety meetings.
  • DOT Files
    • Keep current all DOT files.
    • Forward all new hire information to Human Resources.
    • Complete all background and previous employment checks, physicals and pre & post-employment drug and alcohol tests.
    • Keep current DOT physicals as well as driver’s licenses.
    • Keep all drug tests results.
  • Employee Training
    • Perform all new employee orientation training.
    • Keep all employees training files.
    • Schedule all training.
    • Discuss with Operations Personnel what training needs to be completed.
    • Schedule and perform annual renewal of all training.
    • Make training suggestions for new employee orientation program.
    • Safety Training Matrix.
  • Accident Investigation
    • Head the Safety Committee.
    • Complete an investigation of all incidents, injuries and accidents.
    • Visit sites where accidents occurred in order to get an idea of what happened.
    • Maintain communication with anyone involved in the incident.
    • Update Operations of what must be done in order to complete the investigation within 48 hours of incident.
    • For all accidents have the Safety Committee convened.
    • Complete all required personnel action forms.
    • Review all findings and/or recommendations with the President.
  • Standard Operating Procedures Manual (SOP)
    • Review and or create a binder with all standard operating procedures and keep copies on the server in a location accessible to operational personnel.
    • Review, update and or create standard operating procedures for all equipment.
  • Other
    • Organize, record, log and file all fuel receipts.
    • Organize, record, and file Driver’s Logs and track hours or service.
    • Discuss all Driver’s Log Book discrepancies directly with the Driver and have Driver correct all said discrepancies.
    • Record all required mileage from Driver’s Summary Sheets by State and complete IFTA filing quarterly.
    • Complete all required tracking, recording and filings for all applicable Hazardous Waste Taxes.
    • Meet with DOT Auditor’s as necessary.
  • Safety Equipment
    • Track, monitor, keep certifications up to date for all meters, tripods, winches, supplied air equipment, respirators and other PPE as necessary.
    • Keep all Confined Space Entry Permits filed.
  • Truck Inspection
    • Conduct random inspections as needed of all equipment.
III. Day End Duties:
  • Priority - Red-Tag Program. Every other day is sufficient.
  • Have a presence in yard as drivers return. Audit drivers and equipment as it comes into the building.
  • Do a final property audit. Check doors, gates, and any other potential hazard that may exist.
Requirements:
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Accounting experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
