Overview

Responsible for the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions to ensure that monthly financial statements are properly recorded. To prepare period-end journal entries and perform analytical review procedures during the monthly close and the reconciliation of the various balance sheet accounts thereafter. Approximately 40% of the month is devoted to journal entries and close procedures with the remaining 60% devoted to account reconciliations and reporting. The candidate is expected to take ownership of assigned tasks, meet all deadlines and work towards objectives without undue supervision.

Job Highlights

• Prepare and post a high volume of journal entries for one or multiple practices during a compressed monthly close (medium level of complexity as determined by materiality or higher risk accounts)
• Prepare a high volume of balance sheet account reconciliations for the practice (medium level of complexity as determined by materiality or higher risk accounts)
• Ensure balance sheet accurately reflects the assets and liabilities of the business
• Attention to detail to catch and correct errors in the general ledger and/or supporting schedules
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and assist in developing control procedures
• Responsible for ensuring adherence to company policy applicable to journals and reconciliations
• Make suggestions for and work to implement process improvement projects
• Document and maintains document to reflect up-to-date processes and procedures
• Identify accounting process problems or issues, present and implement solutions
• Run inquiries, research and investigate data to perform analytics
• Generate and distribute reports as needed
• Monitor email, including group email boxes, and provide timely responses

Qualifications

• 4 year college degree required and emphasis in Accounting preferred
• Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work with numerous practices (Business Units, Companies etc.)
• Detailed and customer service oriented
• Deadline oriented and willingness to work additional hours to meet those deadlines
• Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
• Sound knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Expert to Advanced Excel skills (Formulas, Data, Insert, Pivot Tables and Macros )
• Strong general ledger and accounting software skills – Workday software experience a plus
• Well-developed Microsoft Office Suite with Access skills desirable
