Position Overview
The Senior Accountant assists in ensuring that all accounting processes are documented, financial risks are identified, and that there are effective and efficient processes in place to prevent and/or detect issues in a timely manner. They also ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, and GAAP, etc. The Senior Accountant assists in preparation of any necessary financial reports or analysis that track company assets, liabilities, profit/loss, tax liabilities, etc.
Essential Job Duties
✓ Assists with execution of all accounting processes, including billing, expenditures, monthly/quarterly/year-end closings, balance sheet account reconciliation, preparation/review of journal entries
✓ Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies
✓ Compiles and supports external auditors’ requests for account information and relevant documents
✓ Assists Director of Finance with budget preparations
✓ Maintains general ledger
✓ Prepares monthly balance sheets, and profit and loss statements, etc.
✓ Reconciles bank accounts regularly, including verifying deposits and addressing inquiries from the bank
✓ Initiates payment of invoices associated with accounts payable
✓ Interfaces with Claims Coordinator and Accounts Payable Coordinator for payment to health providers
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements
✓ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration required
✓ CPA licensure and/or master’s degree preferred
✓ 3-5 years relevant General Accounting or Public Accounting experience
✓ Experience with relevant accounting software, NetSuite and Microsoft Office Suite, specifically strong Excel experience required
✓ Strong customer service skills for both internal and external customers
✓ Strong mathematical and analytical abilities 
✓ Preferred experience reading and interpreting contracts with ability to transform words into numbers

✓ Must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc. for this position

✓ Willing to assist coworkers in the job duties and work overtime if required; may act as a resource to other coworkers
✓ Maintains confidentiality, dignity, and security of health records and protected health information in compliance with HIPAA requirements
Security Requirements
✓ Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug test (as applicable)
✓ Must obtain and maintain security clearance with the client/facility as a requisite for initial and/or continued employment
Physical/Mental Requirements
This position routinely requires (but is not limited to) the following:
✓ Ability to both remain stationary and move/traverse throughout the facility, including up and down flights of stairs
✓ Ability to position oneself in different spaces
✓ Ability to convey and discern information in a conversation, frequently communicate with Finance Team, Leadership Team and Clients/Partners; must be able to exchange accurate information.
✓ Ability to identify and detect objects and assess situations from a variety of distances
✓ Ability to stay calm in stressful and demanding situations
✓ Frequently transports objects up to 50 pounds
✓ Ability to work from 8am-5pm daily with flexibility for meetings and special projects
Work Environment
Work is performed remotely after training but may be asked to travel occasionally to a correctional facility. Employees are exposed to some level of risk and/or harm by inmates including exposure to blood borne pathogens. Employee is expected towork in accordance with all security rules and regulations to minimize the risk of danger and/or harm to themselves or other employees.

Employee must comply with all current and future State, Federal, and Local laws and regulations, court orders, Administrative Directives and standards and policies and procedures of the site where assigned, including those of professional organizations such as ACA, NCCHC, etc. Employee must treat every other member of the CorrHealth team, all correctional personnel, all inmates and third parties in the facility with the proper dignity and respect. Actions or communications that are inappropriate or degrading will not be tolerated.
