University Prep Schools is Hiring an Assistant Facilities Manager Near Detroit, MI

Job Summary:

The Assistant Facilities Manager supports the Facilities Director in ensuring effective and efficient management of all aspect of facility and maintenance functions. The Assistant Manager provides support services to the school buildings and ensures a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for teaching and learning.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and schedules building custodians to cover the operational hours of the facilities, including weekends, holidays, and off-hour emergencies as needed
  • Hires and trains custodial staff
  • Interfaces and problem solve with building partners and landlord
  • Supervises custodial staff, processes payroll and performs annual staff evaluations
  • Develops, creates and enforces policies and procedures as necessary
  • Ensures staff is informed of and following safety and security policies and procedures
  • Ensures all schools are compliant with all federal, state, and local building and school code regulations
  • Develops and maintains campus cleaning and maintenance schedules
  • Manages the maintenance budget and issues purchase orders as required
  • Manages contractors and vendors work to ensure quality completion
  • Obtains quotes and assists with the bid process when necessary
  • Develops long- and short-range building and space utilization plans for the districts
  • Assists with emergency (drills, AED, etc.), safety and traffic management for the districts
  • Coordinates emergency on-call rotation
  • Monitors and manages help desk requests using the service data to make improvements `and/or adjustments to services and equipment
  • Coordinates the delivery and pick-up of campus mail between districts as well as the local post office
  • Manages equipment inventory, and the tracking and purchasing of stock items
  • Serves as the backup for money pick-up/drop-off
  • Creates and maintains custodian manuals applicable to each site; and performs other duties as assigned

Experience/Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or related field preferred
  • Project Management experience is a plus

Desired Competencies:

  • General knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrical and general maintenance procedures
  • General understanding of financial, budget and inventory management
  • General knowledge of HV/AC systems and operations
  • Knowledge of building automation systems
  • Supervisory, organization and planning skills
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Basic computer and software skills
  • Ability to draft project proposals and timelines
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record
