JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Associate Director of Employer Engagement and Community Partnerships within the Career Development Center (CDC), the Business Development Manager (BDM) is charged with supporting the job and internship recruitment strategy of the University of St. Thomas. The primary responsibility for this position is to implement employer engagement strategies for the CDC that result in improving the quality and quantity of full-time and internship opportunities and increasing the number of local and national companies who hire undergraduate and graduate students as well as St. Thomas alumni. This position will enhance relationships with existing organizations and will add new organizations to our recruiting base. This position will participate in regular relationship building meetings and events with corporate recruiters, alumni and human resources professionals to discuss hiring needs. This position also involves identifying and tracking existing and new employer engagement as well as developing regular reporting for internal and external partners. Additional responsibilities include project management, independent decision making and strategic budget oversight, event planning, data analysis and logistics.
This position is part of the Alumni, Corporate Relations and Career Development (ACC) team within University Advancement, charged with collaborating with units across the university to engage alumni, employers, corporations, and other members of the Tommie Network in mutually beneficial partnerships that support the success of St. Thomas students and advance the university.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Business development and account management
· Establish and execute strategies to grow the CDC’s network of recruiting contacts on a national and local level. Ensure target companies are in alignment with the strategic direction of the school and desired industries and functions of our students
· Collaborate with ACC team members to develop an annual business development plan for CDC. Communicate plan and results with Associate Vice President, Alumni and Corporate Engagement, and academic departments.
· Maintain current knowledge of the employment market, recruiting trends, and hiring practices for target companies and industries.
· Develop and expand relationships with recruiters, company representatives, and alumni with local and national companies with a focus on identifying new opportunities for the St. Thomas and our students.
· Participate in recruiting efforts, including travel, in key US cities as determined in collaboration with Associate Director and other ACC leaders.
· Work with the Associate Director to track business development activity in Salesforce. Review progress monthly and evaluate target companies annually.
· Develop reports on the status of company visits, documenting results of visits and events and post communications.
· Conduct account planning meetings each spring and summer with recruiting partners to discuss hiring needs for the upcoming academic year and to present opportunities for participation in career events.
· Identify company/recruiter needs and develop tailored recruiting strategies utilizing St. Thomas resources and CDC services. Counsel recruiters based on student feedback and help employers implement plans in an efficient and effective manner.
· Track and analyze data on past and current companies that have employed students and provided summer internships. Make recommendations for new company development.
· Solicit continual feedback from recruiters to ensure satisfaction with both student performance and CDC services; Communicate results to the ACC team and use feedback data to inform departmental improvements.
Project/Events Management and Marketing
· Market St. Thomas students, CDC employer engagement opportunities and recruiting services to targeted companies to align with St. Thomas brand in conjunction with University Advancement’s communication team and Associate Director.
· Consult on all employer-facing web content including pages dedicated to recruiting on-campus, brand management, effective student engagement strategies, and utilizing Handshake.
· Oversee successful planning and implementation of large-scale career events and programming connecting students and employers (e.g., career fairs, on-campus interviewing, info sessions, employer volunteer management and local/national site visits, and Students Career Treks).
· Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative recruitment data to inform best practices, analyze performance measures, inform process improvement, gauge volume, and use of CDC services, and perform comparative analysis with national trends. Maintain annual Employer Engagement dashboard.
Student Services
· Collaborate with the Career Educator team to develop a communications plan to ensure the information gathered through business development efforts aligns with St. Thomas student populations.
· Partner with the Career Educator team and campus partners to develop and implement a plan for students’ voices to be included as part of the business development strategy.
· Plan and lead student career treks to target cities in conjunction with the Career Educator team. Work across ACC to develop an annual trek plan based on students’ interests and industry locations.
