POSITION TITLE: Web Services Manager

DEPARTMENT: Marketing

POSITION STATUS: FT, 12-Month

POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Marketing

JOB SUMMARY:

Serves as lead for all creative/design aspects of developing and implementing web sites and strategies in collaboration with teammates in Marketing to advance the top strategic priorities of the University and to strengthen the brand. Uses the web CMS to create web presences for all of sf.edu and serves as lead UI/UX Designer. Collaborates with team members to strategize the optimal layout to convey messages via web interfaces. Establishes the visual layout for templates and custom digital solutions taking into account the primary desktop and mobile devices as well as screen sizes. Creates and manages web style guides to ensure consistent implementation of code, behavior of visual elements and brand conformity. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing.

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

• Works with outside Web Development firm to deliver the university’s brand online.
• Evaluates the web and higher education environment to promote and maintain an integrated web presence.
• Oversees all website content updates.
• Responding to and troubleshooting all website issues.
• Ensuring that the website is protected by enabling the appropriate security measures.
• Conducting content audits to eliminate redundant and/or duplicate information.
• Creating appropriate website content aligned with the organization’s strategy.
• Ensuring website quality and efficiency by conducting regular test plans.
• Improving the user experience of the website regularly.
• Ensuring full compliance on the website with all laws and regulations.
• Keeping up-to-date with industry best practices and monitoring competitor websites.
• Works with other department to manage University’s email marketing system
• In partnership with colleagues within Marketing and across the campus, develops, implements, and manages web communication strategies as part of a university-wide communication program to support USF’s strategic institutional and marketing goals.
• Works collaboratively in an open team environment with other members of Marketing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required.

Experience

• 5 years front-end web experience with an understanding of backend technologies and practices

Knowledge and Skills

• Expert knowledge of website development process – from idea concept through implementation
• Knowledge of email marketing systems and how to design emails
• Demonstrated collaboration, communication and project management skills
• Strong technical knowledge and demonstrated experience in the following technologies: HTML, CSS, Wordpress, and responsive frameworks
• Strong working knowledge of tools needed to create and deliver content to web and mobile devices.
• Full understanding of and demonstrated implementation of W3C web design specifications for optimized semantic markup, as well as Section 508
• Strong knowledge of Accessibility and WCAG 2.0 Guidelines
• Strong knowledge of cross-browser and cross-platform issues and design constraints of the web.
• Ability to work as a team player.
