The Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact is a billion-dollar initiative designed to fast-track scientific discoveries and the process of turning those discoveries into innovations that improve the quality of life for people in Oregon, the nation, and beyond. The Knight Campus will reshape the higher education landscape in Oregon by training the next generations of scientists, forging tighter ties with industry and entrepreneurs, and creating new educational opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students.
The Gardner Lab focuses on developing new methods to interface with the brain and peripheral nervous system, and on the study of sensory-motor learning in songbirds, with a focus on high-channel count neural recordings in freely moving canaries.
The Research Technician conducts animal-based research and technical activities related to sponsored projects in Dr. Gardner’s lab. The focus for this position is on performing animal surgeries and relevant post-operative care under IACUC-approved protocols, as well as contributing either to the analysis of neural spiking data or brain slice histology. Assistance with the management and maintenance of lab equipment, protocols, and programs within the Gardner Lab may also be expected.
This position reports to Dr. Timothy Gardner, Associate Professor, and Robert and Leona DeArmond Chair in Neuroengineering.
