Project ECHO has an amazing opportunity for a Community Engagement Manager to join our team! The Community Engagement Manager will be working on a randomized clinical trial funded by PCORI. This individual will oversee all activities needed to support project contributors by assisting in the recruitment for the Local and State Advisory Boards, collecting and coordinating contributor data and feedback, and participating in site visits.

Your responsibilities as the Community Engagement Manager will include:

  • Developing operating procedures for the management of community engagement using Community-based Participatory Research (CBPR) best practices. Providing instruction to community contributors on the purpose of the research clinical trial and intervention.
  • Overseeing all activities (e.g. meet-and-greets, listening sessions, formal updates) needed to support the project contributors.
  • Coordinating the planning, development, and implementation of two Community Advisory Boards, including carrying out and planning the recruitment of community participants, patient advocates, and other professionals to serve on the Local Community Advisory Board.
  • Ensuring that Local Community Advisory Board members become informed and involved in all levels of the research clinical trials project.
  • Creating templates, systems, and procedures for collecting contributor data. Collecting, processing, and recording the Local and State Advisory Boards' data and/or feedback.
  • Planning and scheduling site visits with the support of the administrative staff.
  • Scheduling and coordinating Community Advisory Board meetings and developing the agenda under the guidance of the research clinical trials project director.
  • Supporting the Community Advisory Board meetings by scheduling, creating and/or collecting information and documentation, and taking meeting minutes.
  • Participating in clinical site visits with other members of the ECHO program team (some travel around New Mexico will be required). Recording participant responses and discussions at site visits.
  • Maintaining complete source documentation and coordinating the preparation of study activity reports from stakeholder engagement activities for the ECHO program hub team and investigators. Providing documentation and data of these activities for progress reports to funders.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for Community Advisory Board members and serving as the first-level consultation. Identifying misalignments between Community Advisory Board priorities and project implementation, addressing problems, and tracking resolutions.
  • Partnering with the ECHO Communications team on the creation of newsletter, email, and website templates that promote the research clinical trial objectives and activities.
  • Coordinating monthly emails to Community Advisory Boards to ensure Board members are kept apprised of project status, activities, and results.

We work with partners all over the world and work hours outside of normal business hours may be required. We are fortunate to have access to advanced technology, which will require some teleworking.

Conditions of Employment
  • NM Licensure as a Registered Nurse may be required, as appropriate to the individual position
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • May be required to submit to annual TB and rubella screening.
  • UNM will provide Hepatitis vaccination, candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with utilizing/implementing community-engaged research
  • Experience working with the New Mexico community on patient centered outcomes study
  • Ability to travel around New Mexico
  • Ability to gather qualitative data and synthesize for study team
  • Knowledge of the principles and procedures of clinical research
  • Master's degree in public health or similar field
