TheSenior Research Specialist will be responsible for the design, implementationand evaluation of research protocols guiding the collection and processing ofbiological specimens within the Clinical Research Center. The Senior Research Specialist develops andoversees training on consent process, as well as collection, processing,storage and transfer procedures in accordance with clinical research protocolssupported through the CRC. The role alsomaintains the CRC’s research instrumentation to ensure compliance with allHIPAA, safety and security requirements.
Research
Develop research specimen and data collection procedures for investigator-initiated protocols supported by the CRC. Oversee the collection and processing of biological research specimens for storage and transport per protocol requirements.
Oversees documentation of allinstrument logs, data system logs, and computer system backups. Ensuresconsistent implementation of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines forparticipation interactions, specimen collection and data privacy. Assuresquality control measures meet, adheres to as established in the researchand laboratory policy and procedure.
Manages CRC instrument safety protocols to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. Ensures good instrumentation with the required testing, calibrations, tunings, standardizations, and Preventive Maintenance (PM) performed in accordance with the vendors’ manuals and specifications, and/or established procedures.

Maintains instrument routine processes, cleaning requirements, safety gears, disposals, equipment, tools, networking, printers, and computers in good order and working conditions. Manually maintains instrument computer hard drives and updates instrument computer systems.

Evaluate current developments and research findings to determine their potential applicability to research projects.

Communications
Monitor research project developments on an ongoing basis and implement changes as needed.

Prepare, organize and communicate research results to research teams and Principal Investigators. Contribute to scientific papers, grants, and other documents for publication based on research findings.

Author and co-author articles for publication and present at scientific symposia and conferences.

StaffManagement
May act as supervisor orteam lead in directing and coordinating the work of lower level staff. Guide,train and advise lower level researchers and students on techniques, methodsand procedures.
