UIC is Hiring a Senior Research Specialist - CUED Near Chicago, IL

Position Summary
This position is a principal contributor in developing specific research project requirements and is responsible for all aspects of the project from development through delivery. Perform complex study and data collection methods. May coordinate and direct the work and research tasks of lower-level research staff.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conceptualize, initiate, and execute research projects. Develop objectives, research designs, and data collection procedures. Analyze and interpret data and prepare research results.
  • Manage all aspects of research projects, including budget, deadlines, and institutional requirements.
  • Identify potential research projects, cultivate relationships with funders, and develop and write grant proposals for extramural funding, including from foundations, government agencies, and think tanks.
  • Communicate with funders as outlined in funding agreements.
  • Coordinate project activities with external and internal partners including faculty, governmental agencies, and nonprofit organizations.
  • Evaluate current developments and research findings to determine their potential applicability to public policies or community organizing.
  • Replicate, refine and add/develop new research approaches based on project needs. Advise on new directions for research based on study results.
  • Monitor project developments on an ongoing basis and implement changes as needed.
  • Prepare, organize and communicate research results.
  • Author and co-author articles, reports, and briefs for publication.
  • Present research at funder briefings, community meetings, scientific symposia and conferences.
  • Handle media requests.
  • Maintain website presence.
  • Act as supervisor or team lead directing and coordinating the work of lower-level staff.
  • Hire, guide, train, and advise lower-level researchers and students on techniques, methods, and procedures.
  • Plan, assign, and review work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met.
