University of Illinois Hospital is Hiring a Senior Research Specialist - Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics Near Chicago, IL
Position Summary This role will involve overseeing the execution and performance of research projects of a biomedical laboratory which utilizes basic and translational techniques to study immunology and cancer biology through biochemical, cell biology, and computational approaches. Will participate in both scientific research and management of the lab and be responsible for leading a portfolio of research projects. Duties & Responsibilities
Lead in the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments for individual project portfolio
Supervise trainees at the postdoctoral, predoctoral, and undergraduate levels in experimental execution
Evaluate new technologies, instruments, and research capabilities for the laboratory research program
Standardize and systematize comprehensive laboratory protocols while maintaining records and data integrity
Preparation and implementation of general laboratory maintenance protocols (e.g. safety, training, waste management, animal, etc.).
Preparation and implementation of human subjects research protocols (e.g. IRB protocol for biobanking) and oversee compliance for institutional data management and security best practices.
Partner with the laboratory principle investigator in external engagements including meetings with collaborators, scientific presentations at symposia, industry partnerships, manuscripts, and funding opportunities.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
