University of Idaho Director of Grounds
Location: Moscow Division/College: Facilities Management Employee Category: Exempt Pay Range: $76,627.20 - $92, 971.00 annually FTE: 1.0 Full/Part Time: Full Time Position Summary: This position leads and supervises the team responsible for the care and maintenance of the grounds for the University of Idaho. They will direct the team, monitor landscape care programs and maintenance work to enhance campus landscape. Duties may include:
Responsible for the direct supervision of the Landscape Foreperson, Hardscape Foreperson, Arboretum Superintendent, Horticulturist, and Arborist
Responsible for the general supervision of 20 exterior/interior building staff
Assisting in the hiring, coaching, and training of staff
Promoting safe work practices and training opportunities for staff
Other duties as assigned
This position is essential and will be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or University Closure. Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
5 years of progressively responsible management experience, including personnel supervision, fiscal management, and working in a computerized/electronic business environment
Experience with managing exterior building services
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree
Experience in higher education
Experience supervising trade workers, equipment operators, subcontractors, and unit supervisors
Demonstrated leadership abilities and practical management skills, including the ability to work effectively in a large and complex organization, are essential
Experience developing and training employees on policies and procedures, including safe work practices and policies
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Must be able to:
Bend, stoop and work in awkward positions for several hours at a time
Climb and work at various heights above ground using ladders, scaffolding, lifts and bucket trucks
Carry, lift or otherwise move items weighing up to 50 pounds
Stand and walk continuously throughout the workday
Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing duties
Work in inclement weather conditions
Work on uneven or slick surfaces
