University of Hawaii is Hiring a Project Manager (Casual) Near Honolulu, HI

****Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University of Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees (i.e. paid holidays/leave). Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

The project Manager will assist the Dana Naone Hall Endowed Chair to manage operations of the Poai Ke Aloha Aina project (PAA Lab).
Duties include but are not limited to:
  1. Assist Dana Naone Hall Endowed Chair with the development, management, tracking of progress toward achivement, and execution of goals of the Poai Ke Aloha Aina project.
  2. Prepare and draft project reports, updates, and final reports on all aspects of Poai Ke Aloha Aina.
  3. Provide direction and support in calendaring for DNH Chair and planning, logistics, execution of events, presentations, national and international conferences, and community partnership projects of PAA Lab.
  4. Offer critical analysis and solutions to project-related issues.
  5. Support the fiscal, budgeting, procurement and project activities of the PAA lab and DNH Chair, work across ORS and UH Foundation accounts with support from HSHK staff.
  6. Conduct basic background research related to research program of PAA Lab.
  7. Maintain positive working relationships with the community partners of Poai Ke Aloha Aina Project, staff of Hawai'inuiakea, academic and service units, and other stakeholders.
  8. Assist with all aspects of meetings, either in-person or remote using software such as Zoom, including calendar coordination, set up, note-taking, and meeting reminders.
  9. Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Master of Arts in Hawaiian Studies, Education or equivalent field and 1–3 years of work experience in program management or administration.
  2. Familiarity with the Hawaiian language.
  3. In depth knowledge of scholarship and research on the topics of Aloha Aina, Circular Economies, and Wai.
  4. Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple concurrent projects and responsibilities.
  5. Excellent client-oriented and internal facing communication skills.
  6. Capacity to work both independently and within a team.
  7. Ability to conduct basic research involving data gathering, analysis of information, and preparation of findings and reporting activities.
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  9. Proficiency/knowledge of Word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software including related technology for project management and remote meeting access software.
Desirable Qualifications:
  1. Experience in reporting, assessment, and evaluation.
  2. Experience utilizing data analysis software for preparation of statistical graphs, charts, and reports.
  3. Experience in analyzing data sets to distill insights and convey findings for report publications and presentations.
  4. High degree of fluency and proficiency in written and spoken Hawaiian.
