Other Conditions: Part-time, non-tenure track, annually renewable depending on performance, departmental needs and/or funding availability. To begin approximately June 2024 subject to position clearance, and availability of funds. First review begins May 17, 2024 with continuous recruitment until filled.
Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Conduct independent and/or collaborative research, teach, and mentor research activities in the department for residents and medical students.
2. Assist in the acquisition of extramural funding to the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM)/Department of Surgery.
3. Serve on departmental, school, and/or University committees.
4. Other scholarly activities as assigned.

1. PhD degree from a university of recognized standing.
2. Minimum of four years at the Professor rank.
3. Expertise in trauma surgery research.
4. Demonstrated research ability judged competent and adequate for the rank as compared with peers active in the same field at other major research universities.
5. Demonstrated ability to plan and organize research activities.
6. Demonstrated track record (minimum of 100 peer-reviewed journal publications).
7. Demonstrated expertise in extramurally-funded research (minimum of $10 million), resulting in publication in high-level journals.
8. Demonstrated ability to serve as a role model for students and junior colleagues, and to effectively meet, interact, and confer with others.
9. Excellent communication skills.

1. Experience working in a multicultural environment, including understanding the unique cultural aspects of Hawaii’s population.
2. Documented participation in the scholarly and academic and/or clinical affairs of the medical school, university, professional organizations, and/or hospitals.
3.  Recognition as an outstanding academician, scholar, or clinician with a national and/or international reputation.
