Job Summary
Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Reviews and approves recommendations for applications development programs and initiatives. Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules.
The HR Systems Technical Manager is the lead technical expert for UCSF's HR and Occupational Health applications, providing technical consultation, business analysis, architectural review, and advocacy for HR technologies and integrations. The position has responsibility and development oversight for UCSF HR CRM (Salesforce), HR wellness applications, the HR Occupational Health solution suite, HR data integrations, and other HR technical solutions. Responsibilities include establishing coding and architecture standards; guiding design for maintainability, scalability, and security; and overseeing development, deployment, and operational performance.
As the technical team manager, the incumbent leads the selection of needed technical resources such as Salesforce and.NET developers, and directly manages a technical staff of 6-8 staff, contractors, and offshore team members who support day-to-day operations, problem resolution, system enhancements, and application upgrades.

Department Description
UCSF IT provides centralized IT services to all aspects of the UCSF mission including patient care, research and education in addition to support for enterprise-wide administrative systems. Additionally, UCSF IT
works closely with a variety of more specialized departmentally-based IT services to provide common services, IT architectures and frameworks in the areas of infrastructure technology, integration/interfaces, information management (e.g., master data management, clinical data warehousing), security, enterprise systems of record and IT service management processes and tools. Additionally, UCSF IT is actively engaged at the UC System level to identify and implement leveraged solutions and services and to leverage the experience and skillset across the UC system to meet the rapidly escalating information technology needs of the institution. This offers employees the opportunity to be exposed to and engaged in a broad swath of the UC business and advanced technologies and professionals within UCSF and the UC System.
