The School of Education at the University of California, Berkeley is home to a diverse group of students and faculty joined by their common interests in understanding and improving the complex world of education. LEAD Program Description
Leaders for Equity and Democracy (LEAD) EdD is an intensive, three-year educational doctorate for practicing leaders from PreK - university who are interested in serving in high-level system leadership roles. LEAD students attend classes during summers, evenings, and weekends on top of their full-time work within districts, nonprofit organizations, higher education institutions and other organizations. They conduct research on opportunities and barriers for equitable system transformation within public education.
The Program Assistant partners with the LEAD Director and other faculty to provide comprehensive support for students from recruitment and admissions and through graduation. The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting diverse adult learners to reach ambitious goals and enjoys working on a collaborative, fast-moving team. In addition to supporting the LEAD program directly, the Program Assistant works as a committed member of an interdisciplinary team to support far-ranging Leadership Programs' initiatives benefiting leaders, schools and communities throughout the local public education system.

Responsibilities
Compiles and arrays spreadsheets using subject-matter knowledge of the material to ensure data results are consistent with the nature of the data. Provides guidance, support, and follow through to staff, students and faculty on procedures, practices, and implementation of policies regarding classroom, program, and event needs. Stays informed and actively seeks out information on campus policies and procedures and amplifies timely updates on campus and unit policies and procedures. Works closely with the Director on various administrative tasks including accurate use of data within spreadsheets and utilization of various campus databases for event planning, class schedules, fee reimbursement, and recruitment/enrollment. Supports meeting/classroom setup and Zoom facilitation. Determines need, orders, tracks, and organizes general office equipment and supplies. Prepares correspondence and other written materials for department leaders and/or faculty requiring some specialized knowledge of the subject matter. Continually monitors SPA email accounts to correspond with current and aspiring students and other community partners. Coordinates large, complex events/meetings/conferences. Embraces the principle of being a "student always" by engaging in opportunities for training, workshops, seminars, continuing education pertinent to the position, or at the suggestion of the supervisor. Actively contributes to a team environment that fosters and promotes a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) within the unit and at BSE. Participates in workshops, trainings, and other professional development opportunities. Other Duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Requires good verbal and written communication skills, active listening, critical thinking, multi-task and time management skills. Demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service and administrative support in a customer service environment. Thorough knowledge in administrative procedures and processes including word processing, spreadsheets. Ability to work independently, often under pressure of multiple deadlines and ability to prioritize workflow. Must be highly detail-oriented.
Salary & Benefits
This is a 100% full-time (40 hrs a week) non-exempt career position, which is paid hourly and eligible for full UC Benefits.

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $30.50 (Step 6) - $34.86 (Step 12).
