Departmental Overview
Berkeley Public Health (BPH) aims to improve population health, especially for the most vulnerable, through interdisciplinary collaborations, preeminent education, and transformational research. Established in 1943, BPH is a professional school on the UC Berkeley campus that comprises six academic divisions and nearly 30 research centers and programs. The Forum for Collaborative Research is a multi-stakeholder initiative focused on advancing the regulatory sciences forthe treatment of NAFLD/NASH, PSC, liver fibrosis, HBV, HIV, TAVI, and Ocular Diseases. The Forum brings together experts in transplantation medicine, infectious diseases, virology,immunology, and diagnostics from academia, regulatory agencies, industry, and professionalsocieties to discuss, deliberate, and generate consensus on issues such as diseasedefinitions, standardization of diagnostic approaches, and clinical trial design.
The Forum for Collaborative Research is located in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities
Conducts comprehensive event planning for complex events, including conception, design,development, coordination, implementation and post-event evaluation.
Directs multiple service contractors and subcontractors.
Develops and maintains comprehensive event budgets and ensures that event costs do not exceedbudgeted allocations.
May lead a team of Events Specialist professionals, and mentor and / or manage less experienced events staff.
Develops and ensures health, safety and security protocols.
Oversees coordination of technical support for internal and external conferences.
Creates and monitors registration lists and links, downloads, sorts and compiles registration datafor use at Forum meetings and manages on site distribution and website content.
Supports Forum staff in drafting related event materials including invitations, summaries,timelines, online event listings, print and digital materials, and marketing plans.
Determines need for general events equipment and supplies and makes request for re-supply.
Other duties as assigned by the Forum leadership.
Attend trainings as needed and required by the university and unit.
Required Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of concepts, principles and best practices of event planning and public relations, including design, organization and production of complex events and scientific meetings.
Knowledge and skills to apply event management principles, practices and techniques in support of effective event management, particularly high visibility, high impact, high risk events and conferences.
Advanced knowledge of and/or ability to quickly learn the campus and the Forum, including its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.
Advanced long-range planning, project management and organizational skills.
Advanced interpersonal communication skills to build and maintain relationships at all organizational levels and with a variety of publics.
Highly developed political acumen skills and social perceptiveness to successfully meet the needs of guests and ensure guest satisfaction for fundraising events.
Skill in effectively providing donor stewardship.
Advanced judgment, decision-making and problem recognition / avoidance / resolution skills.
Proven success in exercising sound independent judgment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, and act with tact and discretion with sensitive information.
Advanced skill in meeting goals and objectives within budget and time constraints.
Advanced skills in guiding and mentoring less experienced staff.
Proven ability to view tasks from varying perspectives.
Ability to integrate day-to-day operational knowledge and recommend effective short and long-term policies and procedures.
Proven skills to apply principles of personnel management to plan, organize, motivate staff and volunteers.
Proven experience in providing guidance and advice in all aspects of program planning, implementation and evaluation.
Experience developing accurate program budgets; ability to forecast expenses and income.
Proven experience and knowledge in effective contract negotiation and strategies.
Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience/training.
Salary & Benefits
This is a 12-month, full-time (40 hours/week), Contract position, and eligible for full UC benefits.
This is an exempt, monthly paid position. The annual salary is commensurate with experience within the range of $91,000.00- $104,000.00.
This is an on-site position located in Washington, D.C.
