About the Job

United E&C is a full-service provider of engineering services for Electric Utilities and Power Generating Stations. To support our growing business in these areas, we are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to maintain and operate our accounting system while processing regular accounts payable transactions.

Work will include general accounting principles, including:

1. Invoice processing, including verification of coding and approvals for all invoices and payment requests
2. Review and reconcile invoice/statement discrepancies while interacting with appropriate personnel, departments and vendors as needed for resolution
3. Ensure audit readiness through review and maintenance of supporting documentation ensuring policy guidelines are strictly adhered to at all times
4. Verify and process expense claims
5. Prepare and process electronic payments, including checks and ACH transactions on a regular basis
6. Assist in month-end close activities related to accounts payable
7. Vendor verification and maintenance

*This is a 12-month Part Time contract role with Hybrid schedule flexibility and core office days of Tuesday - Thursday.

What we're looking for:

• 1-3 years of general accounting experience
• Experience using Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams
• Strong understanding of account principles and practices
• Effective verbal and written communication skills to liaise with internal departments and external vendors regarding outstanding payable transactions
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Ability to prioritize and organize work in a multi-tasked environment
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Preferred Requirements:

• Associate degree in accounting or related field
• Experience with accounting software platforms (knowledge of Deltek CostPoint is a plus)
• Proactive with excellent organization skills and attention to detail
