UNITE HERE HEALTH is Hiring a Remote Paralegal II

PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to work with Counsel and the Manager of Paralegals or Supervising Paralegal to implement procedures necessary to fulfill the Fund’s Minimum Standards compliance and carry out changes to the Funds’ Minimum Standards, which have been adopted by the Funds’ Trustees.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Reviews and analyzes collective bargaining agreements for compliance as established by organization
  • Communicates information regarding complex issues with both internal staff and external customers
  • Identifies, understands, and assists in resolving contract issues affecting employee’s health coverage
  • Coordinates with Fund departments to ensure contracts can be administered effectively
  • Knowledgeable about all assigned plan units and their nuances
  • Prepares/analyzes reports from database and from other sources as requested by Counsel
  • Researches and writes for attorneys
  • Drafts memoranda, letters, addenda, and extracts
  • Research new legislation
  • Performs special projects and maintains historical documents and practices
  • Sets goals and achieve measurable results
  • Contributes ideas to plans and achieving department goals
  • Demonstrates the Fund’s Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) principles in their conduct at work and contributes to a safe inclusive culture with equitable opportunities for success and career growth

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Years of Experience and Knowledge

  • 2 ~ 4 years of related experience minimum
  • Working knowledge and experience in employee benefits/Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) preferred
  • Working knowledge and experience in LexisNexis research preferred
  • Experience with contract review, interpretation and drafting
  • Experience with labor relations contract review preferred
  • Experience in working on and resolving contract disputes preferred

Education, Licenses, and Certifications

  • Associate's degree required
  • Preferred: Certification in Paralegal studies

  • Intermediate level Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, OneNote)
  • Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills
  • Communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Analytical, math and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented and multi-tasking skills
  • Creative problem-solving
  • Ability to interact with staff at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to understand complex contract language and to analyze it from different perspectives
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Salary range for this position: $57,900~$72,400. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to: relevant experience, qualifications, expertise, certifications, licenses, education or equivalent work experience, time in role, peer and market data, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.

Work Schedule (may vary to meet business needs): Monday~Friday, 7.5 hours per day (37.5 hours per week) with potential for hybrid work-from-home arrangement.
