POSITION: Vice President, Property Management

REPORTS TO: Principals

LOCATION: Washington, DC

The VP of Property Management will be tasked with effectively and responsibly leading efforts to enhance asset performance for UIP communities located throughout the DC Metro area. The VP of Property Management will also work closely with others on the team to ensure physical aspects of our communities are maintained to UIP standards and ensure company goals are achieved. Equally important, the VP of Property Management will lead efforts to curate and maintain our Company culture on the property management division, leading to associates’ longevity with the company and fulfillment in their careers.

Core Responsibilities

  • Set the vision and strategy for the property management division.
  • Mentor and coach direct reports and foster our culture for continual education.
  • Support the regional portfolio managers and provide organizational tools necessary to ensure the efficient, timely, and quality-driven delivery of on-site services at each portfolio property.
  • Oversee the customer service experience to ensure facilities teams are meeting the diverse needs of Mandel managed communities.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service with the onsite property staffs, vendors, residents and others with whom you work.
  • Support positive on-site performance management.
  • Analyze current on-site property processes, make recommendations for action needed and implement new procedures to ensure performance of the property is efficient and within budget.
  • Review property operations and budgets on a continual basis, making recommendations to policies and procedures to outperform competitors.
  • Oversee annual budget review and make recommendation to remain competitive and achieve annual business goals.
  • Be informed of and disseminate appropriate information to remain in compliance with local, state, county, local health, safety, land use and Federal Fair Housing regulations and ensure the company conforms to these regulations.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the residential markets in which we do business, focusing on trends, developments, significant local economic transitions as they relate to our business, and on property position and performance in their local markets and as an overall portfolio.
  • Work as an integral member of the UIP Leadership Team, working collaboratively with associates of varying departments including Accounting, Human Resources, Development, Construction, and others.
  • Review and produce investor reports on a periodic basis.
  • Contribute to special projects as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, finance, property management/hospitality services or a related academic field
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in residential property management with demonstrated work experience in leadership roles
  • Advanced working knowledge of residential property management, including staff oversight, marketing strategies, lease-up processes, vendor relationships, operating budgets and general knowledge of building maintenance and systems
  • Proven track record of effectively managing, training and growing the talent of team members
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver outside-the-box solutions
  • Advanced skill set in Microsoft-base software and systems (Outlook, advanced Excel work, PowerPoint, Word, Microsoft Project or similar scheduling software) and experience working with Yardi
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to ensure stakeholders are clearly updated on status and needs of the various projects
  • Possess ARM, CAPS, CAM or CPM certification(s)
  • Highly motivated and self-sufficient individual who can still work well with varying team dynamics
  • Ability to manage time between multiple priorities
