Job Description

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the Accounting Department to include maintaining, recording, processing, updating, and reconciling various financial documents. The Accounting Assistant provides financial support and direction to all departments consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Lakeside Behavioral Health System.

Job Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. The Accounting Assistant must demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the department and hospital.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business-related field.

Experience: One year experience in general accounting. Prior healthcare experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification: N/A

Knowledge: Must have extensive knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices, understanding of fiscal record keeping, advanced computer knowledge to include experience with spreadsheet software, and effective written and verbal communication skills. Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to maintain confidentiality with highly sensitive patient information.
