Responsibilities

Residential Youth Counselor

2nd shift working every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday

Hourly rate plus special shift differential anytime you work.

Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provides quality mental health care and education services for adolescents, ages 11–17 who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, educational, family and social challenges. The dedicated professionals at Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provide quality mental health treatment for children. The program establishes healthy behaviors and prepares children to transition back home. 

The Residential Counselor (formerly MHT) provides direct patient care duties, including group treatment and other aspects of their treatment of psychiatric disorders, behavioral health disorders or related disorders; to ensure the safety and well-being of these patients; to support the maintenance of therapeutic milieu. The MHT/Residential Counselor is responsible of maintaining the overall milieu management and safety of patient and staff in the unit and collaborating effectively with Supervisors, Therapists, and Management.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma

Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Human Service Field

Background: Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Screening and Pre-employment Drug Test.

Qualifications

Additional Requirements:

Must be able to set and maintain therapeutic distance with clients; maintain therapeutic boundaries during treatment and following discharge. Must be able to read, understand, and follow: policies, procedures, and written treatment plans.

Successful completion of CPR Certification and successful completion of Handle with Care prior to assisting with a restraining procedure and within 7 days of employment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
