Residential Youth Counselor for 1st Shift (7a-3:30p) rotating weekends off.
Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provides quality mental health care and education services for adolescents, ages 11–17 who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, educational, family and social challenges. The dedicated professionals at Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provide quality mental health treatment for children. The program establishes healthy behaviors and prepares children to transition back home.

The Residential Counselor provides direct patient care duties, including group treatment and other aspects of their treatment of psychiatric disorders, behavioral health disorders or related disorders; to ensure the safety and well-being of these patients; to support the maintenance of therapeutic milieu. The Residential Counselor is responsible of maintaining the overall milieu management and safety of patient and staff in the unit and collaborating effectively with Supervisors, Therapists, and Management.
40 hours a week, rotating weekends required.
Hourly wage with Shift Differential after 3 pm (pay based on experience in field and higher education)

Qualifications:
Education Requirements:
Required:High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in human services, psychology, social work or related field
Certified Nursing Assistant
Experience:
Preferred six months experience in residential psychiatry or other childcare facility/agency experience in comparable position
Background:
Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Screening to work in Healthcare and Pre-employment Drug Test.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to set and maintain therapeutic distance with clients; maintain therapeutic boundaries during treatment and following discharge.
- Must be able to read, understand, and follow: policies, procedures, and written treatment plans.
- May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours.
- Successful completion of CPR Certification and successful completion of Handle with Care prior to assisting with a restraining procedure and within 7 days of employment.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
