Responsibilities
The Manager of Environmental Services (EVS) is responsible for managing custodial operations ensuring staff compliance with health care quality and safety standards, and established processes and procedures. As part of the EVS Leadership team, the Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and directing custodial operations in order to provide a clean, safe and aesthetically pleasing environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The Manager will lead staff to model a professional practice environment by encouraging strong interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication; supporting autonomy and accountability; providing staff opportunities for in-service and education; stressing the importance of continuous learning; and supporting a culture where concern for the patient is paramount.
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, the Manager will lead and motivate a large workforce across multiple sites. The Manager will recruit, develop, and mentor the Environmental Services supervisors and staff by defining needs through strengths and assessments and incorporating the principles of Relational and Therapeutic Practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a position-related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Broad-based experience in Hospitality Services, Environmental Services, Custodial, or other relevant area, to include experience in a departmental operations leadership capacity.
  • Working knowledge of health care custodial regulatory standards and requirements including knowledge of codes and policies governing biohazardous and hazardous waste.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of human resources management to include experience managing staff with diverse skills and expertise.
  • Skills to develop and implement training programs that meet regulatory health and safety requirements.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present information to diverse audiences.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Skills to implement process improvement strategies and quality improvement programs.
  • Knowledge of environmental services or hospitality services principles, processes, practices, and technologies and how these apply in a clinical environment to support the healthcare delivery system.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CHESP – Certified Health Care Environmental Services Professional Certification.
  • Leadership experience in hospitality or environmental services operations, ideally for an academic medical center, integrated healthcare delivery system, or large hospital.

This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
