Position Summary:

Outpatient Mental Health Counselors are focused on delivering outpatient substance abuse counseling and behavioral health counseling services primarily tailored to pregnant women, women with dependent children, intravenous drug users, and justice-involved individuals. With responsibility for managing an active caseload, this position reports directly to the Clinical Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical Services:

  • Provide specialized clinical interventions for substance-using pregnant women, women with dependent children, and their families.

  • Conduct evaluations, assessments, individual counseling, and education for diverse populations.

  • Identify client needs and make appropriate referrals for prenatal care, mental health care, substance abuse counseling, housing, domestic violence shelter, prevention, and/or counseling.

  • Aid in the child protection process in homes where substance misuse is occurring and assist with family reunification.

  • Implement treatment approaches that are ethical, culturally competent, and evidence-based.

  • Collaborate with clients to identify strategies for reducing harms related to substance misuse, fostering self-sufficiency, and self-empowerment.

Service Coordination & Administration:

  • Document all client encounters and maintain accurate records in a timely manner.

  • Create and maintain monthly reports on client progress, UA results, and attendance.

  • Collaborate with the community and ensure clients have access to appropriate professional staffing.

  • Attend client staffing with other agencies and entities involved in client care.

Community Outreach:

  • Connect with other service providers and actively pursue collaborations in the community.

  • Attend meetings with providers and agencies to enhance client services.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Minimum of a licensed clinical professional with a Master’s in Social Work or Psychology, with current active professional license (LSW, MHC, LCSW, LMFT or LPC) in good standing.

  • Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) preferred.

  • Knowledge and ability to conduct substance use and behavioral health assessments and provide appropriate diagnosis (per DSM-V guidelines) is required.

  • Knowledge and application of code of ethics associated with respective counseling certifications and licenses.

  • Completion of appropriate continuing education requirements every year required to maintain licenses and certifications.

  • Understanding of regulations and standards regarding HIPAA, privacy, and confidentiality

  • Self-starter and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Able to work in diverse settings with diverse populations.

  • PC skills in spreadsheets, databases, and electronic health records, including Excel, Outlook and Word.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $68,000 - $78,000 (salary will be set within this range based on licensure/qualifications)

  • Paid holiday, vacation, and sick leave.

  • Medical, vision, and dental insurance at half the cost.

  • Short-term disability, accidental death and dismemberment, life insurance, and EAP provided at no cost.

  • Participation in 401K.

  • No On-Call hours and flexible work schedule.
