Troy Dental is Hiring a Certified Dental Assistant Near Shorewood, IL

As a certified dental assistant, you will work alongside dentists and dental hygienists to provide quality oral health care to patients. Your responsibilities will include preparing treatment rooms, assisting with dental procedures, taking patient X-rays, maintaining patient records, and ensuring a clean and sterile environment. You will also provide chairside assistance to dentists during procedures and educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Dentists: Prepare treatment rooms for dental procedures, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during examinations and treatments.
  • Take X-Rays: Use dental radiographic equipment to take and develop patient X-rays, ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis.
  • Patient Care: Greet patients, escort them to treatment rooms, and ensure their comfort during procedures. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and post-treatment care instructions.
  • Sterilization and Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and sterility in treatment areas, sterilize instruments, and disinfect equipment following infection control protocols.
  • Record Keeping: Accurately document patient information, treatment plans, and procedures in electronic health records (EHR) or paper charts as required.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels of dental supplies and equipment, reorder supplies as needed, and ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.
  • Administrative Tasks: Schedule patient appointments, handle billing and insurance claims, and assist with other administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Certification: Must be a certified dental assistant with a valid state license or certification. Completion of an accredited dental assisting program is required.
  • X-Ray Certification: Proficiency in taking and developing dental X-rays, with certification in dental radiography preferred.
  • Clinical Skills: Demonstrated ability to assist dentists during procedures, perform chairside duties efficiently, and maintain a sterile environment.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with patients of all ages and backgrounds in a professional and compassionate manner.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Experience with dental practice management software is a plus.
  • Team Player: Capable of working collaboratively with dentists, hygienists, and administrative staff to ensure the smooth operation of the dental practice.
  • Commitment to Quality Care: Dedication to providing exceptional patient care, adhering to ethical standards, and following all regulatory guidelines and protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPR certification
  • Experience working in a dental office or clinic
  • Knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA regulations

Working Conditions:

  • Typical work hours may include evenings and weekends, depending on the dental practice's schedule.
  • Requires standing for extended periods and the ability to lift and move heavy equipment.
  • Exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials is possible; adherence to safety protocols is essential.
