Trinity Christian Academy is seeking for highly motivated, detail-oriented, experienced Teacher Assistant who is passionate about God to join its growing faculty. The teaching assistant will work with the lead teacher to support the learning and development of the students. 

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist with the overall supervision and daily class functions of a group of students.
• Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up class rooms, and preparing materials for student activities.
• Work closely with the classroom teacher and other educators to implement lesson plans and work with groups of students toward clear and measurable learning objectives.
• Supervise students in a safe and respectful manner when teacher is out of the classroom or otherwise occupied.
• Supervise students during recess and during the afterschool hours to ensure safety, and to encourage cooperative and enriching activities.
• Opens classroom in morning, greets parents and students, assists in making a smooth transition. 
• Guide students to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum. 
• Reports any medical problems and accidents to other staff and to the parents. 
• Observes all rules and regulations of regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of students.
• Provides verbal recognition and acceptance to students while providing clear and consistent expectations for the student's behavior.
• Observe, record and report individual and group behavior; Maintain records and files as instructed (i.e., attendance, behavior records)
• Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards.
• Attends all required staff meetings, workshops and/or school functions.
• Participation in school special events occasionally in the evenings and for mandatory special events.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of School.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with adults and students.
• Ability to evaluate, design, and implement curriculum, testing, and/or teaching methodologies.
• Ability to provide activities for students that encourage healthy growth.
• Ability to exercise control and maintain classroom discipline.
• Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for students.
• Ability to collaborate and communicate with teachers, support staff, parents, and students in a positive and constructive way.
• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and have a high degree of diplomacy and tact.
• Must have a compassionate attitude and a growth mindset to develop young minds and inspire a love of learning.
• Knowledge of applicable safety procedures.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of Associates Degree or higher and prefer teaching certification but not required.
• A minimum of two years’ experience working with elementary or middle school-age students in a classroom setting, preferably with one year as lead teacher.
• Experience using classroom technology preferably on MS Office based products.
• Current CPR and first aid certification or willing to become certified prior to start date.
