TRI COUNTY OFFICE ON AGING is Hiring a Quality Specialist II Near Lansing, MI

Job Title: Quality Specialist II
Reports to: Quality Assurance Director
Work location: Lansing, MI
Work schedule: Monday – Friday, Full Time, 40 hours per week
Compensation: $21.21/hour plus benefits
General responsibilities: Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Director will focus on contract compliance for MI Choice Waiver (Project Choices), a long-term care system designed to serve the elderly and persons with disabilities who are at-risk of entering a nursing home.
Essential job functions: (Reasonable accommodations will be provided, if necessary, for individuals with disabilities who can perform the essential job functions.)
  • Responsible for conducting multiple audits/reviews of case file records at various intervals to ensure accuracy, appropriate documentation, and timeliness of data to meet established compliance and contractual guidelines with an emphasis on Person Centered Planning.
  • Responsible for the compilation, preparation and maintenance of various reports, spreadsheets, and databases, and portals.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining current protocols for completion of assigned audits and reports.
  • Assists Quality Assurance Director in preparing for the Clinical Quality Assurance Review (CQAR), Administrative Quality Assurance Review (AQAR) and National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Surveys.
  • Conducts various audits for MI Choice Waiver participants and ensures eligibility requirements are met through the Nursing Facility Level of Care Determination (NFLOCD).
  • Communicates compliance audit results to appropriate staff.
  • Participates in CSI Committee meetings and serves as backup to Quality Specialist 1 for the coordination of CSI Committee Meetings.
  • Serves on the NCQA Planning Committee.
  • Assists the Quality Assurance Director with the preparation of external reports, policy/protocol updates, and other administrative tasks, as needed. Serves as a resource for staff regarding established written protocols and quality issues.

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Commitment to the organization’s missions and goals.
  • Computer skills sufficient to learn specific departmental software programs.
  • Ability to compile and compare data using a variety of computer software (MS Office/Word/ Excel and Outlook).
  • Ability to understand MI Choice standards.
  • Ability to be detail oriented.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information regarding all aspects of participant, volunteer, employee, and agency information.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish good relationships with staff, participants, volunteers, and vendors.
  • Ability to represent the Agency in a professional manner.
  • Must be able to adjust priorities to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Must have excellent verbal and writing skills.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet department standards with regard to job knowledge, participant focus, initiative, productivity, communication, teamwork, and attendance

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Human Services or related field is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with the MI Choice Waiver or quality activities is required.

Work conditions:

  • The work environment varies. When in the office, safe work practices in regard to office equipment, avoiding trips/falls and fire regulations are required. When traveling to or spending time at residential or medical facilities, exposure to unusual elements such as smoke, unpleasant odors, loud noises, and extreme temperatures increases.
  • Physical mobility is required for sitting, walking, standing, bending, and lifting/holding/carrying objects of up to 20 pounds. Must be able to move around in multiple locations with varying physical environments & barriers. Must be able to drive. Ability to enter and access information using a computer. Must be able to communicate effectively with participants, co-workers, and vendors in person and over the telephone.
  • Sensory requirements include exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, environments, and activities.
  • Mental requirements include the ability to handle varying and intense levels of stress.
