    SUMMARY:
    Under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Principals, Deans and Security Manager, the person in this position is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for all occupants of the buildings.
    HOURS:
    Hours will be worked out with applicants.
    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
      High school diploma required.
      Some training or college in law enforcement preferred.
      Experience in security or law enforcement preferred.
    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
    Must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
      Welcome patrons and assist them as needed.
      Monitor all facilities such as but not limited to exits, windows, doors, offices, gyms, pool, penthouse, filter room, boiler room, etc.
      Off hour monitoring of outdoor areas, including parking lots and fields.
      Monitor students and ensure safe and appropriate behavior.
      Observe and monitor internal and external traffic.
      Manage problematic issues with diplomacy.
      Assist those utilizing facilities.
      Contact Maintenance when problems arise.
      During winter months monitor conditions of drives, lots and walks, and report any snow/ice concerns to grounds person on call.
      Report incidents to police and/or supervisors when necessary.
      Deters inappropriate student behavior through high visibility in student areas and the development of positive student interactions.
      Refers students who violate school rules to the Deans’ Office.
      Performs other duties which may from time to time be assigned.
    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
      Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
      The ability to work with students and adults in a positive manner.
      The ability to resolve and/or deescalate tense or volatile situations.
      The ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
      Possess common sense, problem-solving skills and reasoning ability to appropriately deal with day to day instruction and supervisory situations.
      The ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues that supports a cooperative work environment.
      The ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of employee, student and other sensitive District information.
      The ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
      Computer knowledge for accessing information or screening visitors to the school or district activities.
      The ability to learn and operate new software security systems.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, bend, write, type, speak, and listen. In addition the employee may occasionally be required to bend, twist, reach and climb. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, peripheral and distant vision. Ability to work in office environment, sitting, standing, light lifting, filing, operate office machines and computer, communicate with staff and others. Occasional lifting, otherwise non-demanding office activities. Must be able to drive district vehicles.
    The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet/moderate to loud. The employee is frequently required to interact with the public and other staff. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students including taking actions that prevent or stop disruptions or fights involving students and/or adults.
